Chen qigang's piano concerto “er huang” was commissioned for the 2009 China music festival "echoes of the past and the present" held by Carnegie Hall in the United States.According to the organizers, the original intention of "echoes of the past and the present" Chinese music festival is to pay tribute to China's colorful and vibrant music culture,so that the audience can have a taste of Chinese traditional and contemporary music culture, and understand how Chinese music has influenced musicians around the world. On the whole, the work is expressed in a state of quiet aesthetic, composure and simplicity, which insinuates the composer's feelings for his childhood memories. The theme of this work is derived from the Original edition er huang board of Peking Opera, which skillfully combines Chinese music language with western composition techniques. It not only shows the complementation of eastern and western thinking, but also perfectly embodies :the integration of Chinese thinking mode and European music conception in sound color.— — by Olivier MessiaenTaking Chen qigang's piano concerto “er huang” as the research object, this paper studies the composition techniques of “er huang” and explores its features in the selected theme materials and their applications, pitch organization, creation techniques, sound features, music structure and other aspects from the perspective of creation.
