Chen Qigang,born in 1951,is a famous Chinese composer in France.In 1988,he won two awards of composition competition in Germany and Italy by his works "Journey to Dream" and "Source",Ater that,he has been exploring and innovating on the road of music creation,and is still active on the international stages."Reflet D un Temps Disparu",a Cello Concerto,was created between 1995 and 1996 and is one of Chen Qigang's early masterpieces.The composer used the core tune of the Chinese guqin song "The Plum Blossom Melody Play Three Times" as the main material throughout the whole song,and made excavation and exploration on citation of the material and presentation mode of the band.In this paper,I will make a preliminary analysis of the composition techniques of this work from harmony,polyphonic technique,orchestration technique and musical structure as well as in terms of the way of quoting the material "The Plum Blossom Melody Play Three Times" by means of analyzing and demonstrating the musical examples.In doing so,I aim to comb Chen Qigang's way of creation expressing the connotation of Chinese culture with western composition techniques and provide reference for China's music creation and research.Key words: Chen Qigang "The Time Goes By" composition technique.
