With the promotion of digital transformation,5G,artificial intelligence,cloud computing and other technologies drive the development of education information technology into a new era.The online education model has been gradually applied in primary and secondary education through the Internet,empowering the kind of change in education and teaching.Although online education has broken the restrictions of time and space,opened communication channels for the participating subjects of online education,helped schools to carry out distance education teaching work and solved the problem of learning space caused by epidemic isolation,there are still shortcomings in the current development of online education in China.In order to cope with the space limitation of offline teaching,the promotion of online and offline hybrid teaching is inevitable nowadays,and online teaching has gradually become an important component of today’s teaching implementation.In terms of English reading teaching,how to further improve its online teaching status still needs to be explored in depth.Based on this,this study analyzes the current core problems that need to be solved based on the current situation of online reading teaching in high school English in China,in order to propose effective online reading teaching strategies for high school English,and to provide a theoretical basis and a practical basis for building an online reading teaching model for high school English in response to the digital transformation background through theoretical analysis,support for the current situation,and analysis of the factors influencing and maintaining the effectiveness of online reading teaching.This study first collects and integrates relevant studies focusing on online education and English reading teaching at home and abroad,in order to clarify the connotation concepts involved and to sort out the relevant definitions,to summarize and review the research on the quality assurance system of online education at home and abroad,and to sort out the shortcomings in the current research on online reading teaching in high school English and the innovation points of this study.Secondly,data are collected from some provinces in China through questionnaire survey method,and according to the national development demand for online education in primary and secondary schools,interview survey method is also used to understand the current situation and teaching effect of online reading teaching in some high schools in Jiangsu Province,to grasp the current situation of online English reading teaching in high schools through empirical analysis,and to conclude the problems of online English teaching in high schools and the corresponding relief strategies.The study found that there is a strong correlation between English subject teaching philosophy and ability,English learning activity view and teachers’ online teaching ability;meanwhile,there are significant differences in the current situation of online reading teaching among high school English teachers based on different ages,teaching ages,education and regions,while there is no significant difference in the current situation of online reading teaching in high school English among teachers of different genders;the effect of online reading teaching is limited by students’ online The effectiveness of online reading instruction is limited by students’ online learning status.Based on the test and correction of the structural equation model,in order to further explore and supplement the main influencing factors on the current situation of online reading teaching in high school English,this study conducted in-depth interviews with high school teachers and students,and finally concluded five main influencing factors on the effectiveness of online reading teaching in high school English through class analysis of the interview contents: namely,teachers’ online teaching ability,English learning activity view,teacher-student interaction and feedback,English subject teaching concept and ability,and students’ online learning quality.Based on the main findings,this study proposes strategies for improving online reading instruction in high school English from five dimensions that reflect the current situation of online reading instruction in high school English.First,to improve English teachers’ online teaching competence from passive cultivation to active generation;second,to strengthen subject teaching and practical knowledge learning,and to practice the concept of the curriculum highlighting core literacy;third,to build an English online classroom guidance mechanism to deeply lead students’ cooperative interaction;fourth,to promote the integration of cognitive tools and online teaching,and to promote student-oriented deep learning;fifth,to build an intelligent training platform for high school English teachers and promote the linkage mechanism of training community.
