With the growing international influence of China,Chinese is increasingly becoming a major subject in the language acquisition courses of the IB Diploma Program,which is favored by an increasing number of international students.Due to the wide range and flexibility of the topics,IB Chinese course does not provide special teaching materials.Hence,a set of scientific and practical IB Chinese textbooks can help teachers to carry out classroom teaching more easily and efficiently,and also help learners to quickly improve their Chinese proficiency and successfully pass the IB Chinese test.i Chinese is a set of IB & IGCSE Chinese textbooks published in Singapore,being used by many international schools at home and abroad for IGCSE,IB mandarin ab initio and IB Chinese B courses.By studying the matching degree between the textbooks and the IB Chinese exams,exploring the scientificity of the textbooks compilation and whether the textbooks combines examination and teaching to well meet the needs of both teachers and students,has certain practical significance for the improvement and use of the textbooks in the futureAt present,there is no research on the scientificity of this set of textbooks and the matching degree between the textbooks and the IB Chinese exams.This paper selects Volume 1 and Volume 2 of i Chinese as the main research object,referring to the IB language ab initio syllabus and combining with the real exam papers of the IB mandarin ab initio exams in the recent 5 years,analyzes the matching degree between i Chinese and the IB mandarin ab initio exam from the aspects of topics,vocabulary and exercises through the quantitative statistics and comparative analysis methods.Based on the research results,the advantages and disadvantages of the textbooks compilation in various aspects are summarized.The research findings are as follows: First,the coverage rates of textbook topics to syllabus topics and exam topics reached more than 80%,and the matching degree in topics among textbook,syllabus and exams is relatively high.Second,the coverage rates of textbook vocabulary to syllabus vocabulary and exam vocabulary are low.The coverage rate of high frequency words in exams is less than 50%.The matching degree in vocabulary among textbook,syllabus and exams is relatively low.The textbook vocabulary is large and difficult,requiring learners to have certain basic knowledge and vocabulary.Third,the overall matching degree between textbook exercises and exam papers is high,but there are still obvious deficiencies in each part of textbook exercises.Moreover,the textbook exercises have a monotonous question type,limited amount of questions and an unclear hierarchical variation.In view of the deficiencies of the textbooks compilation found in the research,this paper puts forward corresponding suggestions for improvement and use.In terms of textbooks improvement,it is suggested to supplement the missing topics and pay attention to the topics with high recurrence rate in exams,set the difficulty degree of vocabulary reasonably and improve the recurrence rate of the new words,enrich the exercise types and present a reasonable increase in difficulty.In terms of the use of the textbooks,it is suggested to integrate the textbooks contents and implement stratified teaching,develop a variety of teaching resources as an effective teaching supplement,spirally organize the teaching contents to improve the recurrence rate of vocabulary and language points.
