| Chinese newspapers contain a wealth of intellectual content with relatively normative words and sentences,providing Chinese language learners with extensive language materials.Reading newspaper not only helps learners enrich their Chinese vocabulary and sentence patterns,but also improves their listening,speaking,reading,and writing skills.Additionally,it helps them understand the latest information and trends from various aspects of society and gain a better understanding of China’s vast and vivid culture.Students’ Chinese language proficiency is a performance of their combined linguistic,literary,history and culture,and an important aspect of this is their understanding and mastery of stylistic grammar.At a personal level,students can only use language appropriately if they have a good sense of stylistic grammar,and teaching materials,as an important carrier for educational content,should be responsible for developing students’ awareness of stylistic grammar.However,the current development of advanced reading materials for newspapers is still inadequate in terms of the stylistic grammatical orientation of the language,and most studies focus on a single dimension.In view of this,this study is based on the theory of stylistic grammar,and uses research methods such as comparative analysis and teaching experiments to conduct a systematic study on the writing characteristics and application effects of two textbooks: "Advanced Chinese News Reading Course" and "Newly Compiled Newspaper Reading for Chinese Pre-Advanced Level".Firstly,the study systematically sorts and analyzes the textual aspects such as the source of the text,themes,vocabulary,sentence patterns,sentence types,discourse vocabulary connections,paragraph connections,exercise types and quantities.On this basis,through teaching practice to understand students’ experiences of using the corresponding newspaper reading materials and their learning needs.Finally,the strengths and weaknesses of the two advanced newspaper reading textbooks are summarized in the light of grammatical theory of language style;and suggestions are made for the improvement and teaching of the advanced newspaper reading textbooks.The contribution of this study is two-fold : at the theoretical level,it enriches the object of stylistic grammar research and combines stylistic grammar with textbook research,which promotes the development of stylistic grammar theory and injects new perspectives into textbook research,providing linguistic ontological support for textbook development.At the practical level,this paper provides insights into the development of international advanced Chinese newspaper reading textbooks,including suggestions for improving the principles and requirements for writing textbooks,and for improving the presentation of the stylistic grammatical features of newspaper in texts and post-lesson exercises.At the level of using textbook,it is recommended that teachers understand the theory of stylistic grammar and develop students’ awareness of stylistic grammar,so as to help students to implement the stylistic grammatical elements of "speech" and "content" in newspaper,thus improving Chinese learners’ ability to read newspapers. |
