Nano-materials have many novel and unique properties with ultrafine grains which are no more than 100nm. Interest is increasing in the physical properties of nanophase materials because of their potential applications. They are so called "a future star of materials in 21st century". The ability to create nanophase materials has developed rapidly over the past decade, but how to apply nano-materials is on theory investigation and application grope. Laser Sintering is one of Rapid Prototyping that is a new manufacturing technology with combining all the new achievements in computer, materials and laser and machine manufacturing science and technology. It can fabricate parts directly according to CAD models of parts.In this paper based on application of nano-materials, a lot of basic experiments using laser sintering have been made. The experimental study presented some creative and conclusive works as follows:Analyzing the theory of sintering, grain growth of laser sintering of nano-powders has been concluded. Analyzing the models, it is predicted that grain growth of nano-materials can be restrained using laser sintering.Analyzing micro-structures of n-Al2O3 by experimental study, it is conclusion that grain growth of n-Al2O3 can be restrained well using laser sintering. Nano-grains evolves micro-stuctures or clusters with sub nano-grains.High power laser sintering of ultrafine powders can lead to severe splash. Based on application study, a novel method of laser sintering is put forward to solve the splash that is Selective Layers Laser Sintering (SLLS). Through the basic experimental study, SLLS is successful to sinter n-Al2O3 and gain sintered blocks with micro-structures of nano-grain.Experiments of laser sintering of n-Al2O3/polystyrene composites' powders have been made, and the detail sintering parameters have been investigated. Analyzing effects of n-Al2O3 in plastic products by laser sintering, it is important in practice to laser sintering of plastic parts with n-Al2O3.
