MES(Manufacturing Execution System) is a bridge between top-level transaction and low-level control system of facilities. It is the key technology to implement the integration of all enterprise information systems. Now most schemes selected to solve MES are based on point-to-point integation, which cause high cost of development and maintenance. So the application of MES in enterprises was prevented. Enterprises are pressing for MES, but the T-MES(Traditional MES) is deficient. As AM(Agile Manufacturing) is the trend of enterprises, the research on MES oriented to AM have great importance. It can not only improve the level of management of manufacture and automation, but also extend the CIMS application to a new phase.On the basis of detail analysis of MES, a functional model of MES in CIMS was presented firstly in this paper. Then the characteristics, key technologies and solutions of MES oriented to AM were summarized. In view of the advanced technology and its practicability and feasibility, the methodology of software reuse was adopted to research MES oriented to AM.With the analysis of the key technologies of MES based on software component and the research approach, the O-O modeling of MES was investigated chiefly and a method called UBHEOO(UML based hierarchical evolutionary O-O) was proposed. Some transformation rules were founded between the traditional models and the 0-0 model based on UML. By inheriting the achievement of traditional models previously designed in CIMS, the UBHEOO made it easy for the 0-0 modeling for complicated systems. Based on the method, the 0-0 model for MES was given.A MES framework based on software component was proposed to obtain large-scale domain-specific reuse. Many aspects of the framework including partition application domain into components, identifying generic parts among components, defining framework message, developing design patterns for generic parts and the MES framework architecture were studied detailedly. An integration framework of MES oriented to AM was proposed and it can realize the horizontal integration and vertical integration for MES by adopting agent components. Considered the characters of components oriented to Domain-Specific, a description method composed of the facet classification method and the specification description was put forward.The development of MES based on CORBA was also lucubrated .The content includes the MES software architecture, development of new systems and encapsulation of legacy systems using CORBA. At the end of this paper, the outcomes of the research were applied to a practical project, whose result proved that the methods and outcomes presented in this paper are valuable and significative.
