As the bridge connecting the planning & managing layer and the facility control layer, Manufacturing Executive System (MES) plays more and more important role in manufactural enterprises. The concept of Collaborative Manufacturing Executive System appears with the continual improving of Agile Manufacturing and Network Manufacturing. Collaborative Manufacturing Executive System, which is the trend of next generation MES, lays a stronger emphasis on abilities of integration, collaboration and reconfiguration. Nowadays, researches on Collaborative Manufacturing Executive System still stay upon the conceptional level. It's an important but not yet well settled problem to carry out integratable and reconfigurable characteristics that Collaborative Manufacturing Executive System requires peremptorily. In this paper, several research works are done for this problem as follows:1. Firstly the dissertation presents the history, status and trend of MES, problems that nowaday MES faces, and advantages of next generation MES. A novel approach of constructing collaborative MES based on SOA is put forward.2. Collaborative manufacturing processes in workshop are introduced, and the position of collaborative MES among enterprise information systems is given. The content and advantages of Service-Oriented Architecture are described. Aimed at the problems of traditional MES and nowaday new requirements, a multilayer framework of service-oriented collaborative MES is constructed.3. Techniques of MES domain services development are studied. Analyzing and comparing technologies of service and traditional component, the service-oriented reconfigurable MES software engineering is put forward. Methods of evaluating and reconfiguring workshop legacy systems are presented, and an extensive study on approaches to identify domain services is carried out. A mathematics model to identify MES domain services is given, and an algorithm based on GA is put forward. The validity of the above-mentioned model and algorithm is proved by a demonstration.4. Techniques of MES information integration based on ontology are studied. By analyzing types and reasons of heterogeneous information in MES, an information integration theory based on ontology is put forward. The method and processes to establish MES domain ontology for information integration are presented. On the basis of constructing rules for MES information interface, specifications are designed. To reduce the difficulty of manually information matching, a semi-automatic method to integrate MES heterogeneous information based on ontology is put forward, the key technologies are also researched.5. Techniques of MES integrated process modeling are studied. Summarizing current process modeling methods, a novel modeling approach which combines UML, Petri net and WSFL is put forward. The integrated modeling strategies with mapping rules between UML, Petri net and WSFL are described as well. Using a simple instance of production management and controlling, the integrated modeling process is described in detail.6. Finally, a service-oriented enterprise application platform is studied, a prototype of service-oriented collaborative MES that is integratable and reconfigurable is presented as well. It verifies the feasibility of approaches to develop service-oriented Manufacturing Executive System.
