Research On Product Design Repository System

A product-centered knowledge system, Design Repository (DR) based on Knowledge Management (KM), is proposed for the management and reuse of the design knowledge.The key technologies of acquisition, organization, management, storing and reuse of the design knowledge in DR-are studied. The structure of DR is discussed. An intelligent collaborative knowledge web and agile product development environment based on DR is put forward and cases are studied in an enterprise.Product model is expressed with semantic object. The product definition related knowledge is organized through the product structure tree. With the product configuration management system, the product objects, versions and relations are maintained.It addresses thematic data model and an OLAP multi-dimension model. Knowledge management methods such as rule discovering based on Rough Set (RS) are discussed, and a heuristic data reduction algorithm is given.An Expanded Customization Design method is presented. A product is customized based on the basic product parts, and then all other details are confirmed according to the configuration rules. It effectively supports agile product design and customer-driven design. Product development wizard contains an intelligent configurator, which disposes options and rules and manages relativities, conflicts, restricts and resources.Intelligent collaborative knowledge web is designed to manage information and process in DR. In this way, collaborative product development, information integration and sharing are realized intra- and inter-enterprise.
