With the increasing scale of production system and the development of information technologies, production automation has been extremely improved, system structure is more complicated, and system functions are more powerful. Different kinds of information technologies and artificial intelligence have been widely put into application. It is difficult for conventional production automation (control domain) itself to satisfy all these requirements. The defects coming from daily equipments diagnosis and maintenance, technical management are attaching more attention, and maintenance automation is in need of improvement. Furthermore, in order to improve control performance, equipment availability, and then achieve perfect economic effect, the information coming from production automation, maintenance automation, and technical management automation should be synthesized and systematically analyzed to form an integrated automation system. A novel system scheme integrating control, maintenance, and technical management is originally proposed for floodgate automation system in this dissertation in order to improve overall floodgate water discharge automation and achieve better economic effects. To integrate control, maintenance and technical management of floodgate, many new research results of information technology, networked control system and artificial intelligence have been employed.Previous research works on control, maintenance, and technical management integrated system (CMMS) have been summarized first in the dissertation. This novel scheme is put into application to floodgates integrated automation system (FGIAS). Making toward the eventual dream of fully automated water discharge system, many new technologies has been utilized including information technology, neural network, expert system, and virtual reality etc. The outline of the dissertation is as follows:Not only the research purpose and significance is presented, but also the project background is introduced. After reviewing the state of arts of control automation, maintenance automation and technical management automation, the existing problems have been pointed out. In order to address these problems, a novel scheme integrating control, maintenance and technical management have proposed, and its research works are studied. Then, the necessity and feasibility for floodgate automation system integrating control, maintenance and technical management is discussed. Finally, the research work and significance of this dissertation is presented, and dissertation structure is provided. In order to integrate control, maintenance, and technical management domains and allow information exchanging and sharing, the system structure of FGIAS is first given. After detailed analysis of the system function, the system function model is also presented addressing information integration and ensuring interoperability within control, maintenance, and technical management functions. Then, control information model, maintenance information model and technical management information model are all detailed after function analysis respectively. All these models are essential for information integration and sharing among control, maintenance and technical management domains. Based on these models, it is possible to optimize the overall economic effects of large hydro project floodgates. In order to ensure reliability, maintainability, and survivability of FGIAS, intelligent fault-tolerant control (IFTC) strategies have been studied A fault-tolerant control system (FTCS) is a control system that possesses the ability to accommodate for system failures automatically and to maintain overall system stability and acceptable performance in the even of component failures. After reviewing control system fault detection and diagnosis (FDD) and fault-tolerant control (FTC), the thesis investigates the intelligent fault-tolerant control strategies for FGIAS utilizing artificial intelligence and fault diagnosis technologies. By fault detection and controller reconfiguration, the...
