| It is the age of globalization, informationization and technology innovation of manufacturing industry in the 21st century. To enhance the science and technology level in manufacturing industry, especially in small and medium manufacturing enterprises which have a great effect on China's economy, one of important factors is to improve the ability of product development and technology innovation. The modern product development technology is characterized by digitalization, networked, virtualization, intellectualization and integration. Therefore, collaborative virtual product development (CVPD) technology based knowledge warehouse (KW) is an important direction of modern product development, and is also a new technology for the requirements of manufacturing enterprises development.Through analyzing the present situation and features of digitized products development technologies in network environment, an architecture of CVPD system based KW is present in this dissertation. Some key technologies for implementing CVPD system are researched, including establishing product knowledge model, knowledge warehouse, collaborative development for virtual products and integration methods of software platform. As the verification of feasibility and practicability for the functional architecture of CVPD platform, the development technologies and application of the software prototype system are also discussed. These research works make new exploration for the product development mode and platform on Internet for manufacturing enterprises. The main characteristics and creative ideas of the dissertation are as follows:(1) Based on analysis of connotation of knowledge warehouse and theory of developing distributed collaborative virtual product on Internet, a concept of knowledge warehouse is put forward. The building plan of CVPD platform is presented in this paper based on KW ofmechanical design, which is composed of framework, application, protocol, network and knowledge resource.(2) According to analyzing methods of knowledge representations for mechanical products design, a new knowledge representation model based on semantic object is described. To implement sharing and exchanging product knowledge among members of alliances in the process of product development on Web, the process knowledge of collaborative design is represented with XML supported by KW. The knowledge solving model, which represents task knowledge, reasoning knowledge, domain knowledge and their interaction, is put forward to provide a method for developing system based on knowledge with guidance.(3 ) By analyzing information contents, functional modules and characteristics of KW for mechanical products, a functional architecture of implementing KW is researched, including modules of knowledge resources, knowledge storages, interfaces of human-machine interaction and tools of KW. According to building model of knowledge acquirement process supported by technologies of data warehouse, the method of data mining and knowledge discovery (KDD) based on rules and classified model is researched. It puts forward a knowledge management method based on snowflake model of multidimensional data with the subject of product development.(4) Aiming at requirements of product design as well as practicability and low cost for small and medium manufacturing enterprises in China, and by analyzing and choosing development tools of virtual environment for design, a implementing plan of non-immersive virtual environment based on the technology of VRML and JAVA is built with emphasis on software.
