Concurrent design is an active issue in the research field of advancedmanufacturing technology, it can shorten product delivery cycle, improveproduct quality, save product development cost. Combined with NationalNature Science Fund project "Study on Modular Flexible Machining CellOriented Concurrent Design Software Tools", and aimed at Flexible TransferLine (FTL) product design for prism type parts, this dissertation systematicallyanalyze the implement principle of computer aided concurrent design forcomplicated mechanical product. Its main research work is as follows. 1. On the basis of studying computer aided FTL concurrent design process,the basic feature of FTL concurrent design is put forward, and then itsframework under network environment is raised. 2. After analyzing the composed feature of FTL product information,some principles suited for complicated mechanical product are proposed, in thelight of them, using object-oriented method FTL product model is established. 3. The building strategy of product data management is studied, and therealization method of FTL document management, product structuremanagement and work flow management is put forward. 4. The synthetical evaluation index system of FTL is put forward, on thebasis of this, the synthetical evaluation method of FTL design plan by AnalyticHierarchy Process and fuzzy set theory is studied. 5. The research significance of FTL concurrent design software tools isintroduced, and the architecture of FTL concurrent design software tools isbuilt. On the basis of this, a FTL concurrent design software tools prototypesystem is development.
