With the development of missile weapon and space vehicle, higher performance, lower cost, and shorter lifecycle have become new requirements for the designing of Solid Rocket Motor (SRM). Consequently, an advanced integrated design environment is an instant need to provide the technical support. With the support of the"CAD/CAM for SRM"project and a purpose to establish a distributed integrated design environment for SRM, this dissertation explores some key technologies related, including its architecture, data integration, design process integration, and application integration.First, an analysis on the SRM design process and its influence factors is given and it is followed by an intense study on the connotation of the distributed integrated design environment; on the basis of which this dissertation demonstrates the SRM design process in the integrated design environment. In addition, the operation architecture, the system architecture, and the technical architecture of the integrated design environment are further built with an analysis of the architecture features.By analyzing the basic data elements and models of SRM design process, this dissertation presents a multi-view integrated data model consisting of organization, process, product, resource, and constraint views. Meanwhile, a data sharing and exchanging mechanism based on the eXtensible Markup Language (XML) and a data consistency management method based on the master model are addressed. Issues concerning the state, security, and version management of the integrated data model are also discussed. The data integration of the integrated design environment is finally realized with the bottom data support provided by this research.A hierarchical process integration model, made up of project, global workflow, and subsystem workflow, is manifested in light of the hierarchical strategy. The global and subsystem workflow modeling methods are researched by employing extended Timed-Coloured Petri Nets and Activity -net respectively, thus hierarchical integrated process management system is established. Therefore, this research solves the problems of the monitoring and management of the global process and that of the micro design exploration, and finds a solution to their integration, thus realizes the process integration of the integrated design environment.The component based application integration method and the formalization definition of software components are presented, the component interface developing criterion is proposed as well. Besides, the application component depository of the integrated design environment is developed, and a workflow system is established which supports component dynamic combination. The software reusability, expansibility and configurability of the environment are achieved, and the application integration is implemented. By applying the theories and methods studied above to practice, this research offers a J2EE based distributed integrated design environment and designs an Integrated Solid Rocket Motor Design Environment (SRMIDE). Moreover, the feasibility, the effectiveness and the practicality of the research result are verified and instantiated by a high pressure SRM design case.
