Research On Architecture And Landscape In Tunpu Of Anshun

Tunpu of Anshun, is the production of Land-Hoarding System practiced after pacification of areas of Yunnan and Guizhou by "mobilizing the northern forces to fight in the south" in the early Ming Dynasty. For historical and social reasons, the culture closely developed after 600 years has preserved the cultural symbols on behalf of orthodox consciousness of Han nationality in regions of yangtze and huai river so that it is named "isolated cultural island". With much useful research done before by predecessors, the culture of Tunpu comprises a variety of consequent research materials on cultural anthropology, sociology, folklore, art science, linguistics, architecture, together with the history of war, traffic, economic, and technology in the southwest region.The thesis, based on the various views of former study on the culture of Tunpu, especially combining the research results on history and sociology, by the approach of field research and analysis on historical resources, researches on the characteristic of architecture and landscape in the villages of Tunpu from the angle of architecture and landscape neglected before. It is aimed to find the historical reasons, locations, types and ages of villages of Tunpu. Consequently the main research structure is located in the key problems involved in the essence of the architecture and landscape of this area such as the spatial feature of the environment of villages of Tunpu, the spatial forms of courts and its cultural meanings, the materials of Tunpu's architecture and their decoration features, the ideal power for the formation of architecture and landscape in Tunpu and the aesthetic value and enlightenment for present design of architecture and landscape in villages of Tunpu.This research is grounded on a huge quantity of information from field investigation, literature searching and social survey, leaded by Chinese traditional philosophy and ideals on environment and culture, and compared to detailed conventional architecture related. By finding and utilizing the useful information, a veritable understanding of architecture and landscape of Tunpu can be erected, and after the process of analysis from far to near and outer to inner, the unique racial culture and value contained in is revealed so that a new area of research on culture of Tunpu is cultivated and the academic evidence is given as well that why the culture of Tunpu should be preserved wholly and utilized appropriately.
