Forest fire is one of the natural disasters to forest resources and living environment. It is almost impossible to put an end to all forest fires, but it is possible to minimize their effect through active extinguishment. by actively mean. This paper focused on the researched of highly efficient forest firefighting combinational technology and equipment. The research adopted advanced national and international fire fighting technology that fit the practical situations in China.Forest fire suppression is one of the most important parts in forest fire management. This paper describes two combinational systems including advanced information management, fire extinguishing with water and GPS technology. Then the research was put into practice aiming at making effective fire extinguishing plans rapidly, help firefighters to arrive the fire place quickly, and putting out the forest fire using the technology of fire extinguishing with water.The paper concentrated on the forest firefighting. This paper described a management system for fire fighting apparatus with Visual FoxPro. The functions are: Information of the fire fighting apparatus can be searched conveniently. The optimal combination allocated equipment plan was formed for fire fighting base on terrain and types of forest fire, etc. By sorting and comparing technology and equipment of fire fighting, technology of fire extinguishing with water is considered as the optimal plan. The system is composed of the water supply system with long distance mountain area and forest fire engine and manual apparatus, in order to extinguish the forest fire as quickly as possible.A completely fire fighting survey was made in Fangshan district, Beijing, on the distribution of fire fighting conditions of the fire department and water source and forest, terrain and the present construction of fire fighting establishment. The result shows that the woodland mainly is located far suburbs with complicated distribution. The paper selected Fangshan district as research object. A special digital map was made of Fangshan district that was exclusively used by forest fire extinguishing equipments. The GPS technology was utilized to collect path data for fire extinguishing, so an optimal path could be concluded when forest fire happens.Based on above research, a fire fighting was simulated in Fangshan district, using the technology of fire extinguishing with water combined with technology of GPS. The result showed that the system could help fire fighters to find the fire accurately and quickly. The compact water supply system with long distance mountain area can supply injecting water with more than 20m water pressure and 2.5l/s flow. The research application increases the safety of personnel for firefighting and can be put wider applications and improved by other districts in Beijing.There are innovations in four aspects: 1. a quantity of forest fire datum was analyzed. A forest fire fighting model was set up. 2. Effective combinational fire extinguishing system is presented, in which the key technology is fire extinguishing with water by improving the water supply system; 3. An equipment management system of forest fire suppression is established for the purpose of forest fire extinguishing with the application of computer technology; 4. GPS as key technology was used to help rapid guiding the best path for fire extinguishing when forest fire happens.Firefighting technology with water is applied as a core technology in the research. Farther more it was achieved to exchange between the forest firefighting equipment technology field and 3S technical application field. A highly efficient decision support system in forest firefighting was established.
