liver cancer is one of familiar malignancies in China. Its incidence and mortality is ahead in our cities and countries. It does great harm to people because of its short course of disease, high mortality and difficult treatment. We usually need to treat it by combining TCM and westen medicine. It is a very important way for lightening toxin and side-effect by enhancing tumor tissues's sensity to chemical therapy and protecting normal tissues from chemical therapy's harm to improve malignancy treatment effect. In recent years, it has had much progresss in China in the research that Chinese traditional medicine is used to prevent and cure chemical therapy's toxin and side-effect and enhance sensity of chemcal therapy. The study aims to illuminate molecular mechanisms of role of apoptosis and tumor angiogenesis in liver cancer chemical therapy with eliminating heat-evil and wetness-evil. We duplicated liver cancer animal model. The curative are Qing-xiang powder, which is a proved recipe of eliminating heat-evil and wetness-evil in clinic, and 5-FU, which is a sensitive drug in liver cancer chemical therapy. Then we measure their liver function, apoptosiss, angiogenesis and correlated indexes, such as aminotransferase (ALT, AST), cytokin (IL-2. IL-8, TNF\ TGF-a ) ,ratio of apoptosiss, expression rate of P53,MVD(microvessel density),VEGF(vascuoar endothelial growth factor). The study offers a new ideal and means to promote Chinese tranditional medicine's clinic use and experiment research in liver cancer treatment. Methods:Animals grouping, replicating model, treatment, indexes testing Rats were divided into 5 groups: group A, normal control group;group B, liver cancer model control group;group C, 5-FU treatment group; group D, Qing-xiang powder treatment group; group E, combining treatment group. In each group, there are 7 rats which are all male. The method of replicating animal models refers to that of Wu Shijiu and Wang Jinbo. Ascites with walker-256 tumor cell lines was injected into subcutaneous tissues of rats. After solid carcinoma grew, circumjacent tissue of the tumor was cut into pieces about 2 mm3. They were paunched to expose the liver after being hocused. Tumor pieces were planted under the liver envelop by ophthalmic forceps. Asorbable gelatin sponge filled the wound to keep tumor pieces from emerge and to avoid bleeding. Then abdominal cavity was closed. Each rat was injected penicillin for 3 days, 2 lakh units every day. Rats of group B, C, D and E were operated like that, fed with fodder of high sugar and high fat, living in environment of high temperature and high damp. Rats of group A were not operated, fed with general fodder, living in general environment. Rats of group A and B were not treated. Rats of group C were treated with Qing-xiang powder for 15 days, llml kg , qd, IP. Rats of group D were treated with 5-FU for 7 times, 75mg kg d, one time every other day. Rats of group E were treated with Qing-xiang powder and 5-FU by the same dose and usage as group C and D. 20 days later, all rats were put to death. Their blood was taken from abdominal aorta and used to distill serum. The related serum indexes were tested, aminotransferases by colorimetry, cytokins (interleukin, TNF, TGF) , by radioimmunoassay. Tumor and nomor liver tissues were fixed with formalin of 10 percent, embedded with olefin and sliced up. The tissue indexes were tested: normal pathology examination by HE dyeing, apoptosis ratio by ISH, P53, CD34 and VEGF positive cell ratio and MVD by IH.results:1. effect of eliminating heat-evil and wetness-evil to survival quality of liver cancer model ratsRats in group A had shining hair, strong livingness, normal appetite and didn't die during the test. Those in group B, C, D and E were obviously thin, ate less and less, had puff hair and poor livingness, died from 2 weeks to 4 weeks after operation. Survival period: group B 20.14?.41d, group C 21.71 ?.69d, group D 22.86?.18d, group E 23.57+3.37. Group B is the lowest. Group E is the highest. The current is increasing. Some rats had...
