Polystictus versicolor (L. )Fr. is world wide distributing medicinal fungi which is sweet and cool, can clear away heat and eliminate inflammation, and whose indication of tracheitis, hepatitis and tumors. Its neoteric research of medicinal value is based on folk experience. With unceasingly further study, ceaseless improvement of research level and extension of application range researcher put forward that it has supplement orientation of the effect of supporting the healthy energy and invigorating energy and replenishing qi. Many kinds of ecotype species which are sorted 14 types in Jilin Province, above 10 misused ones in merchandise and 6 common ones lead to influence on their application of validity and security. Excessively broad pharmacological activities are arresting people's attention in which some polysaccharide activities have never or seldom been reported in other plants and fungi. This may lead to misdirect the correctness of their medicinal value. The pharmacological activities of medicinal materials and polysaccharide of Polystictus versiolor were studied objectively, deeply and systemically in this paper, which make people clearly understand their activities and get an aim of radical reform. This is very essential.Biological characteristic and index of valid identification of Polystictus versiolor are summed up by consulting, sorting and analyzing documents. The result shows that there are no significant differences in microstructures mutually among 14 types grown in Changbai Mountain of Jilin Province. But their main differences lie in their external appearance which is influenced by different growing circumstances. The main influential factors are nutritious condition, humidity, temperature, illumination, and etc.There are major three ways in external appearance identification. Firstly, there are moire like circles with over two or three kinds of floss on the top of pileus. Secondly, hymenium is cannular and when being old and mature its nozzle splits dentately. Finally, the nozzle surface in prophase is white and then turns filemot It was reported that the samples of polysaccharide of Polystictus Versiolor used as experimental research have many kinds of origins and different disposal ways, but indeed they only include two types which are hymenophore polysaccharide (CVPS) and mycelium polysaccharide (PSK, PSP). They are some crude polysaccharide containing binding protein or polypeptide, dissociative protein or polypeptide and other small molecule ones and have low purity. Some active experiments are interfered by other components but polysaccharide that leads to draw some very unclear conclusion which lacks systematic and contrastive research.Polysaccharide of high purity (above 80%) and yield (6.12-7.68%) are obtained by taking orthogonal design of extraction process, choosing reasonable process condition and further purifying on the base of traditional extraction process and didn't have small moleculepolysaccharide (CVPS). Homogeneous Polysaccharide P-I is obtained by further purity and isolation which has high content and accounts for 80.6% and whose molecular weight is 39KD. It is composed of glucose, galactose, mannose, xylose, fucose and little rhamnose and its morla ratio is 5.93:2.20:0.90:1.26:0.81:0.43.CVPS is given to different kinds of experimental hepatic injury animal models 25-100mg/kg by peritoneal injection shows that it presents hepatic protection effect significantly but 25-400mg/kg by oral administration shows no conspicuous effectCVPS digested by proteinase showed the effect of direct proliferation of splenic cell in mice and its activity was not weaken significantly compared with the one digested by gastro-proteinase in which the dose within 3125 - 125|og/mg presents conspicuously dose-effect relationship. There is no significantly influence on the effect of proliferation of T, B lymphocyte and phagocytosis in mice.CVPS oxidized by NaIO4 (periodate oxidation) shows the activity of direct proliferation of splenic cell in mice and there has conspicuous influence...
