Objective : To investigate the effect of the regulation of acupuncturing Zusanli on hypothalamus-pituitary Function of ovarietomized rats. Methods: The ovarietomized rats model was established. Experimental rats were divided into three groups: intact group( INT);ovariectomy group (OVX), ovariectomy group with electro-acupuncture (OVX+EA). The content of the estrdiol (E2), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH) in plasma was measured by radio immuno-analysis(RIA) method. The electro-microscopy were used to observe the change of the morphology and ultra-structure in pituitary The expression product of substance P mRNA in the hypothalamus was obtained by RT-PCR and were tested by agroas gel electrophoresis . Experimental results were processed with computerized image analysis system . Results: Compared with the control rats , in OVX rats , the plasma E2 level were significantly decreased and the plasma FSH and LH level significantly increased; The cell ultra structure in the pituitary appeared aging changes in OVX group;Expression product of SPmRNA RT-PCR was more obviously .However , in OVX+EA group , the E2 level of plasma was higher than that in OVX group , the content of FSH and LH in plasma were lower than those in OVX group . Conclusion : The change of gland hormone level in plasma of rats and function of pituitary were disorder in rats with ovarietomized;Electro-acupuncturing Zusanli acupoint can decrease the change of gland hormone level in plasma of rats and con recover function of pituitary; The mechanism may be related with the expression of substance P mRNA in hypothalamus of the rats with electro-acupunctureing Zusanli acupoint after ovarietomized.
