Objective To investigate the prevalence, awareness, treatment, control and the risk factors of hypertension in Boertala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. To investigate association of the G972R polymorphism of insulin receptor substrate-1(IRS-1) and insulin receptor gene (INSR) exon 8, with essential hypertension in Boertala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang Kazakh population. Methods To investigate Mongol and Kazakh, Uygur, Han population of aged ≥30 with methods of random sample. Body height and weight , systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure was recorded. Fasting plasma glucose, triglyceride, and cholesterol were measured. The further study covered essential hypertensive and normotensive Kazakh subjects in Boertala Mongol Autonomous Prefecture of Xinjiang. Genome DNA was extracted from white blood cells. The segment of IRS-1 was amplified from DNA by polymerase chain reaction(PCR).The PCR products were digested by restriction endonuclease.Rusults The prevalence of hypertension in Mongol and Kazakh, Uygur, Han population was42. 01%, 40.52%, 35. 64%, 33.15%, respectively;the awareness, the treatment and the control of hypertension was 46. 00%, 25. 67%, 6. 60%, respectively.Systolic blood pressure increased along with age, but diastolic blood pressure decreased after 60-year-old.The multiple unconditional logistic regression analysis...
