The Management Of Urban Public Leisure Space In Nanjing During The Republic Period(1927-1937)

Urban public leisure space is closely connected with people's life,the management of urban public leisure space is actually the management of "people".The Republic Period was an important period of social transformation,established the capital of Nanjing from 1927 to 1937 making a great impact to the city.This paper applies the research methods of history,sociology and management,having a comprehensively investigation to the management of public leisure space in Nanjing during the Republic Period.During the Republic Period,the changes of social climate and the development of leisure life expand the urban public leisure space,and the management of the urban public leisure space become an important part of a modernized city.At that time,the mainly urban public leisure space in Nanjing includes Qinhuai district,teahouses,city parks,cinemas and other representative public leisure space.The government defines a series of rules and implements a series of idealized measures to govern the public leisure space.It also sets up the Police station to help urban management.There are several distinctive characteristics about it,strict rules,multiple forms of positive guidance,leisure space is combined with social education space,and Chinese and western management ideas blend well,which give an important inspiration to the management of modern urban public leisure space.In short,the management of public leisure space in Nanjing during the Republic Period showed the characteristics of the historical background,from traditional to modern,which is consistent to the development of that period.
