Given mainstream innovation theory cannot make a reasonable explanation oninnovative practice of Chinese auto companies, existing literature is lack ofin-depthsystematic mechanisms study from a technology acquisitionto achieve technologicalability. This study uses the approach of aiming to establish a theory on multiple case,combining econometric analysis and structural equation modeling, to establish atheoretical framework of Acquisition of Technology-based Innovation. This extensiveexperience in corporate innovation theory, and promote innovative research field of theinternational forefront of academic significance, but also responded to some of the keyissues of innovate practice inChina’s automobile enterprises, and for the government toformulate policies and provide reasonable suggestions for business innovation practices.Some innovative results obtained are as follows:Theconceptof Acquisition of Technology-based Innovation has beendefinedaccording to innovation practice problems for the Chinese auto industry. Coreconcept is the basis for each theory, this paper on the basis of existing literature, andfurther in-depth study, gives the definition of Acquisition of Technology-basedInnovation, which has the authority to absorb both the Institute of related conceptsdefined, but also for China’s auto industry practice, complementing its shortcomings.An implementation mechanism modelfrom Acquisition of Technology-basedInnovation to technological capabilities is also structed. Implementation mechanismwill be divided into three types, namely imitation mechanism, absorbing mechanismand the mechanism of integration, this article explains the three mechanisms forenterprises to achieve the important role of technological capabilities. And furtherdecomposition of these three mechanisms were put to imitate the mechanism of theimplementation process is divided into copy imitation-creative imitation-independentinnovation, the uptake mechanism influencing factors decomposed into the knowledgebase, research and development activities, organizational management, environmentaland social knowledge capital, on the pattern of the integration mechanism is dividedinto three categories, namely replicated integration, gradual integration, breakout-styleintegration, noting in particular that these three mechanisms are not completely independent, but in the entire conversion process of mutual influence, along with theability of a business cycle of rising dynamic process. This theory extends the latecomercatch-up opportunities for national technical means for the development strategy ofChina’s automobile enterprises to innovate to provide new ideas.The hybrid evolutionary mode is proposed on technological capability ofautomobile enterprises. China’s auto enterprises in the development process oftechnological capability to sort out, they found a developing country with existingmainstream evolutionary theory of technological capabilities difference. Among them,the traditional state-owned enterprises basically followed the national technicallatecomer catch-up path, that OEM-ODM-OBM; while emerging private enterprises didnot go through the formation of a joint venture production of standardized products toobtain foreign advanced technology on the road, but directly through the mature productor technology imitation, integrating a variety of techniques to introduce ways, graduallyaccumulated absorption capacity. The resulting technical capacity of China’s automobileindustry evolution and there is no single fixed pattern, and presents a hybridevolutionary mode.
