"Seeing is believing", more than 80% of the external world information acquired by the human brain is transmitted through the visual system, and visual information processing have the significant advantages of high speed, large capacity, and concurrence. Nowadays, people are facing the massive, fragmentation and multi-dimensional heterogeneous data of the information age, making full use of visual thinking helps to overcome the bottleneck of human’s information cognition capacity. Therefore, using vision sense to aid information comprehension and logical analysis becomes a hot trend in current academic research and practical application.Nowadays, the information technology is widely used in coal enterprises, which helps to enhance the real-time monitoring and emergency management capacity for mine safety and production. However, the popularity of information systems has also led to a problem that should not be ignored. Due to the heterogeneous heterogeneity of coal mine safety information system, mine safety data presents the characteristics of multidimensional structure, correlation and metaphorical content, which increases the difficulty of personnel understanding and information utilization. At the same time, real-time monitoring of mining environment has generated terabytes of data, the explosive growth of information is far beyond staff’s cognitive ability, leading to the phenomenon of business processing postponement, complicated work flow, and the utilization rate of information resources becomes lower. As a result, the deficiency of information cognition and utilization hindered the development of safety management.By combination of human visual perception and coal mine safety management, the visualization management mode and visual methods of coal mine safety management is formed. It could effectively filtering and digging the high dimension data attributes of safety management, and combined with cognitive psychology and visual thinking pattern, finally turning the safety data into vivid, understandable and attractive graphic representation, even by means of scientific shapes, it would inspire people’s thinking and imagination, which could effectively improve information resources development and utilization efficiency to realize the aim to visualize the basic data, explicate the objective rules, and give insight metaphor connotation. Nowadays, the theoretical study of safety visual methods is lacking, the research system of visual methods hasn’t be constructed, and the practical application is short of scientific guidance. Therefore, oriented to the coal mining safety management, this thesis has carried out specific research of coal safety visual methods focusing on three problems, including visual methods scientific applications, management effect analyses and optimization design.The thesis is supported by the State Natural Sciences Foudation of “Coal safety visualization management and graphic gallery based on data mining”(61471362), which is consisted of knowledge, presence visualization and graph gallery. The thesis focuses on the last two components. According to the thinking path of “analyze current situation, find associated factors, evaluate the effects, optimize and design", the thesis can be divided into seven chapters, specific contents are as follows:Chapter 1: The introduction. This chapter first analyzes the background of coal mine safety visual methods research, and illuminates the fact that cognition and utilization insufficient of safety information resources are the key problems of nowadays coal mine safety management, and the significant advantage of visual perception for safety information processing. Secondly, summarizes the theoretical research of visualization management and visual methods at home and abroad, as well as the practical application of coal mine safety visual methods. Based on the analyzing results to conclude that the theoretical research of coal safety visual methods are scarcely undertaken, and the application effects of safety visual methods practice are uneven due to the lack of theory guidance. As a result, the thought that optimizing safety visual methods to solve the current safety management dilemma is proposed, based on this, the research goal and significance is defined, and the main content, structure arrangement and technical route are introduced systematically.Chapter 2: The literature review. According to the main problems of coal mine safety visual methods, this chapter carries on literature research form four related principles, includes visualization theory, the coal enterprise safety management theory, the information visualization and cognitive psychology theory. Visualization theory is the theoretical guidance. Then the the related theory of information visualization model, data structure and visual analysis, which provides theoretical basis for the function mechanism and factors analysis of safety visual methods is discussed. In addition, the combination of macroscopic cognitive psychology(cognitive development model), medium scope(cognitive information processing model) and microscopic(visual cognitive principles) supplies references for optimization design of visual method.Chapter 3: The theory framework research. In this chapter, the theoretical system of coal mine safety visual methods is established. Firstly, combined with the analysis of safety management object and its attributes, the connotation, extension and contents of coal mine safety visual methods is proposed. Secondly, in the perspective of information transmission and information control, the thesis discusses the function mechanism of visual methods in coal mine safety management, on which the application process and optimization requirements of visual methods is also analyzed, which leads to the conclusion that practical optimization in visual methods is the effective measure to improve coal mine safety management. Thus, the theory framework of coal mine safety visual methods is established, and centers on the influence factors X, description factors Y, management effects P, proposes the three core questions of the study.Chapter 4: Correlation factors research. This chapter analyzes the associated factors of coal mine safety visual methods, and proposed the factors correlation model. Based on Hall’s three dimensions structure, the four dimensions analysis model of safety visual methods is put forward. Then, guided by this model, it analyzes the basic dimensions of safety visual methods’ correlation factors(X, Y, P). Through the analysis of coal mine safety management objects and its properties, the characteristic description indicators(X) is concluded, which contains object, content, structure, and patterns combination. Using questionnaire and factor analysis methodology, the indicators of influence factors(Y) is set up, which includes management, information, cognitive differences and technical design. According to the correlation of X and Y, the SCE factors correlation model for the safety visual method is established, which provides theoretical basis for the optimized selection research. Finally, it puts forward the ISQ optimization needs assessment method to evaluate the commonly used visual methods type in coal mine safety management activities, it finds out the feasible type for the safety management practical, and further determines the targets for optimizing research.Chapter 5: Management effects research. This chapter systematically combed management effect of coal mine safety with the optimization and application of visual method. Firstly, combined with the cognitive development theory, this thesis expounds the "2-4" hierarchical model of management effects and its function mechanism. Based on the model, it puts forward the management effect evaluation index(P), including two indicators, the personal cognitive efficiency(Pr) and individual importance degree in the organization(P0). Secondly, in the personal cognitive level, with the insight of information processing principle, the individuals and human-computer interaction cognition model is proposed, which leads to the deduction of individual cognitive efficiency formula for visual methods, and it implies the hypothesis that visual methods have impacts on timeliness and capacity. Furthermore, through the timeliness oriented cognitive experiment of gas alarm management, it is proved that visual methods influences information acquisition, identification and analysis, and the experiment results shows that the optimization of visual methods increased cognitive efficiency by 30.17%. The capacity oriented cognition experiment of safety risk management is also conducted, it shows that visual methods influences cognition breadth, strength and length, and results presents that optimization of visual methods increased cognitive efficiency by 27.18%. In the end, in the organizational level, this thesis demonstrates that the scientific application of visual methods can promote business flow to be streamlined, intelligent and monitored, organization system to be flattened, collaborative and standardized, which helps to enhance the visualization management mode and cost control ability of coal enterprise, and finally improve the safety culture.Chapter 6: Optimized design and selection study. Aiming at maximizing the management effects of visual methods application, this chapter explores the optimization design and selection method of coal mining safety visual methods, including the graph gallery system and FODV design model. Combined with cognitive psychology, information visualization of coal mine safety management, a set of scientific visualization pixels, design contents and composition rules are put forward, which forms the graph gallery system for safety visual methods, and provides rich graphics for coal mine safety management. In combination with the SCE model, the FODV design model is extracted, and by the means of mining personnel management cognitive experiment, the conclusion is drawn out that the optimization design of visual methods can shorten the cognition time by 70% at most, which could effectively enhance safety personnel’s information cognitive efficiency, improve management effect of safety visual methods. Then, based on the correspondence analyses, the selection mode based on managerial level is proposed, and with the integration of human-computer interaction theory, it further puts forward the MCD interaction mode of visual methods. Centering on the MCD model, the framework and function of interaction system is designed, which provides guidance for the MIS implementation.Chapter 7: Conclusion and prospect. Based on the research results above, this chapter summarizes the research conclusion and innovation point of the thesis, then gives an outlook for the further research. The main innovations of this thesis include: build up the theoretical framework of coal mine safety visual methods, and proposes the four-dimensional analysis model. Then, put forward the SCE correlation model for safety visual methods, and the ISQ optimization needs assessment methodology. Therefore, the "2-4" hierarchical model of safety visual methods’ management effects it put forward, based on which the individual cognitive efficiency calculation formula is deduced. Finally, set up the optimization design and selection theory, established the graph gallery system and visual selection interactive system.In conclusion, coal mine safety visual methods is a lively, effective display form for safety data, information and knowledge based on information technology, and its optimizing application could effectively promote the individual cognitive efficiency and organizational control level. Due to the lack of theoretical research on safety visual methods, the thesis combines coal mine safety management requirements with the visual cognitive rules, makes use of statistical analysis, cognitive experiment and mathematical modeling methodology, to explore the optimization demand judgment, management effect analysis, optimization design and selection methods of safety visual methods, it has put forward the SCE model, "2-4" hierarchical model and FODV design model, improved the graph gallery system of safety visual methods. Finally, the theories above are implemented using the information system, which provides important theoretical value and practical significance for coal safety visualization management.
