Research On The Development Strategy Of Natural Gas Industry In China

Global energy security and climate change are becoming more and more serious. Clean and efficient energy has received more and more attention from governments of various countries. As a clean and efficient energy, natural gas is becoming an increasingly important source of world’s energy in 21st century. The natural gas industry in China is at the primary stage of a rapid development. Restricted from development stage and recognition, research on natural gas industry development is always affiliated to research on petroleum and is not systematic. In this paper, the author analyzes the situation of energy development in China and also examine in detail domestic and international situation and prospects faced with China’s natural gas industry. At last, the author uses the theory of strategic management, sustainable development theory etc to put forward strategy on China’s natural gas industry’s sustainable development.1. To analyze the situation of exploration, development, consumption, international cooperation, infrastructure and policies on China’s natural gas industry and find out the opportunity and challenge, which aims to lay the foundation for the strategy research.2. To compare and analyze the character of world natural gas consumption. Consumption coefficient method is used to project China’s natural gas demand. The projection indicates that China’s natural demand will grow strongly and amount to 430 billion cubic meters in 2030.3. Weng model, HCZ model and Reserve-production Ratio model are used to project the proven reserves and production. The projection indicates that China’s proven reserves will grow rapidly in the coming decade and the production will amount to 190 bcm and 230 bcm individually in 2020 and 2030.4. To examine in detail global natural resources situation and trends, and prospect the possibility of China importing natural gas. The analysis indicates that China has favorable external conditions to utilize foreign natural gas resources in large scale and the projected import will amount to 100 bcm and 150 bcm in 2020 and 2030.5. To analyze policies and measures of the USA, the UK etc at different stages of the gas development in detail which benefits to complete industry policies of China.6. On the basis of the analysis of internal and external environment for natural gas industry development in China, sustainable development strategy of natural gas industry is proposed.
