Most of out-of-gauge and overweight goods transported by railway are large-scale equipments for industrial and agricultural production or for military use, which are of great significance for the national economic development, especially for the national infrastructure and defense construction. The out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation is an extremtly complicated systematic engineering in railway, which relate to almost all railway transportation departments like the department of dispatch, vehicles, locomotive, telecommunication and signaling. In recent years, the out-of-gauge and overweight goods transported by railways have a trend of constant expansion of contour dimensions and increasing growth of weight, which have further aggravated the goods transportation difficulties. It's urgent to consider transportation process and influencing factors synthetically, research systematacially and explore in depth some key science problems about the out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation optimization, such as calculating goods outline, optimizing transport route, developing decision support system and planning transport corridor and so on. The topic of this thesis has important theoretical and applied value, aiming at improving the railway transportation efficiency of out-of-gauge and overweight goods, fully exploitation of railway transportation potential, perfecting the optimization theory system of out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation. The mian research work are as follows:(1) The transportation characteristics of out-of-gauge and overweight are depicted. An object-oriented outline calculation method of out-of-gauge and overweight goods is put forward, including mathematical description methods of goods entities, the pre-processing of projection based on vertical and lateral scanning, and the integrated arithmetic based on internal or external border. Then, the method is extended to the application of calculating section comprehensive gauge.(2) The influencing factors about transport route of out-of-gauge and overweight goods are analyzed deeply. The problem of transport route decision of out-of-gauge and overweight goods is abstracted to a mathematical problem with multi-constratint and multi-object. The model of transport route optimization of out-of-gauge and overweight goods is built. One of objective functions is descrided quantificationally. The proof of model uniformity is given. For sake of solving the model, a kind of heuristic algorithm for searching route is devised and case matching strategy with revising weights of normalized objective functions continually is adopt.(3) Design principles and purposes of out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation decision support system are come up, and the composition structure, functional modules and design point of the sytrem are analyzed comprehensively. The environment of systematic development and operation are clarified. The man-machine interactive interface is designed. Decision support system for out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation is developed.(4) The formation mechanism about transport corridor of out-of-gauge and overweight goods is explored deeply. The processes about planning transport corridor of out-of-gauge and overweight goods are clarified. By designing methods based on association rules and object attributive characters distribution, the historical dates about out-of-gauge and overweight goods transportation are valued. The primitive framework and full layout of the out-of-gauge and overweight goods transport corridor are constructured.
