Research On Key Terms Of Terminology Science

The foundation of any discipline is hopeless without a theoretical system and a corresponding terminology system, and both are established on the base of several key terms, such as"terminology science","term","terminology","terminology system","terminography"and"terminology standardization"to terminology science. The dissertation is devoted directly to the terms above, the process of identification and evolution of them in different languages are observed, concepts named by them are analyzed, some theoretical issues are explored. The relationship between these terms and relative terms is also highlighted: the relationship of term and word, terminography and lexicography are restudied from the respect of the terminology science as a independent discipline; the scope of the following terms such as technical language, language for special purpose and sublanguage, terminology, nomenclature and professionalism, standardization and normalization, standardization, coordination, unification and harmonization is defined, and the relationship between terms of each group is outlined; the difference of the synonymic term"term"used in Chinese is clarified with the method of standardization; finally the importance of distinguishing polysemic term is illustrated. In shot, the key terms above are taken as start points so as to comprehend the content of the concept, compare the dissimilarity of different terminology schools, define the boundary of relative terms, and all of this in turn is used as proof of identification of these terms, and it also lays the cornerstone of terminology system in terminology science.
