Morality is of the utmost importance in Confucian ideas. Because the research on the idea of Confucian morality has not been enough for a long time, we feel that people' s study about the whole Confucian ideas also deviates. Morality is the key of studying. Confucian ideas. Without probing deeply into morality, we can' t really grasp the essence of Confucian ideas, and also can' t understand why Confucian ideas have so strong influence in the history. The article divides the whole Confucian ideas into two parts: conducting oneself and rule. All of Confucian opinions are in the scope of the ideas about conducting oneself and rule. Confucius touched much upon how to study, so at first I regarded Confucian idea about study as the independent partcorrelating with the two parts---conducting oneself and rule. But after Iseriously study it I find that it is reluctant to regards the idea about study as the independent part. One reason is that study itself is one item of morality while conducting oneself and rule is not so. The second reason is that the idea about study is in the scope of the ideas about conducting oneself and rule. So it is lack of uniqueness correlating with the twoparts---conducting oneself and rule. But because its content is veryabundant, the article interprets it after discussing conducting oneself and rule. The article is divided into three chapters. The first chapter analysis the ideas about morality, the definition of morality, the form of morality, and the morality between heaven and people etc before Confucius. The part of the morality ideas before Confucius interprets the development of themorality ideas in order to serve Confucian ideas about morality. The part of the meanings of morality discusses the constitution of morality. Basing on fifty morality items summed up by others, this thesis adds to twenty梩hree ones. All those items that contain the due meaning of morality lay a foundation of the following discussion. The part, the external form of morality, mainly discusses content of people' s morality and rule morality as well as the morality in the course of studying. The emphasis is about the morality' s form of expression. After talking about rule morality, the part still discusses the rule of virtue that is simply analyzed. What the rule of virtue is different from rule morality is that the latter probe into what kind of content is contained when someone rules the country. What' s more, the morality between heaven and people is also discussed in this chapter. Strictly, the morality between heaven and people doesn' t belong to the morality of Confucius. However, the morality of Confucius developed from morality thought in the xizhou dynasty when rulers relied on Heaven to strengthen their reign. At the beginning of the xizhou dynasty, the thought "morality matches heaven" was brought forth, and accordingly Confucius also had dense consciousness to foreordination. Therefore, to discuss the morality between heaven and people has theoretical value as well as has an important effect on how to understand the status of morality Confucius' s thought. The chapter is to discuss morality' s function. It includes four parts: morality' s regulative function in the economic relationship, morality' s regulative in the people' s relationship, morality regulative function to rule order, and morality' s canonical and instructive function to education, military affairs, and diplomacy. Among them, morality' s regulative function in the economic relationship and people' s relationship and morality regulative function to rule order andeducation are obvious. However, to discuss Morality canonical and instructive function to military affairs and diplomacy is merely a try. This chapter is an overall discussion of morality' s function, which escapes the narrow opinion about morality and offers help to completely understand morality in the Confucius' s thought. The third chapter is to discuss the status of morality. It includes three parts: the first one is about the relationship bet...
