Since the 1990's, women's literature has prospered in the literary worlds of Korea and China, which is regarded as one of the most prominent developments of literary circles. Therefore, there exist considerable similarities between both literary worlds.The study of women's literature of Korea and China has made extensive developments already, but the comparison of women's literature of both countries, especially that of women's literature after the 1990's, has not been taken much notice of yet. However, women's literature made phenomenal changes in the 1990's, as well as made unprecedented achievements in the same period, the comparison of which is meaningful.The purpose of this paper is that, through the comparative study of women's literature of both countries of the 1990's, women's literature of both countries has shown advanced similarities from its tradition of the 1980's to its changes of the 1990's, with additional investigation of the changes in similarities being an important meaning for the rising of women's literature of both countries. What is more significant, women's literature of both countries of the 1990's has some background culture for the likeness of the 1990's, literary cause, and culture of likeness and unlikeness. Therefore, by studying the literary cause, this paper tried to make a theoretic interpretation of continual rising of women's literature of both countries after the 1990's.This thesis is about the extensive comparative study of the novels of women's literature of both countries from the 1990's to the year 2003. The characteristic of this paper is that it investigates some fresh aspects of women's literature of both countries of the 1990's in a comparative way. In the meanwhile, this paper sums up the similarities between those new aspects, and then studies their background culture and social sources. In addition to this, on the basis of the results of this investigation, the differences between those new aspects of women's literature of both countries and their causes are examined and the practically similar or dissimilar points express themselves. This paper mentions a lot of significant novels for women of both countries, including writers of every school of literature and its character. In order to reflect thepractical situation in an extensive and exact manner, this thesis makes a distinction of creation groups of women's literature of both countries of the 1990's, sums up their characteristics, and makes an overall comparative study based on this point of view.This paper classifies women's literature on the subject of the works, that is, after classifying the developments of subject of women's literature of the 1990's, it makes a comparative study of the masculine and feminine shapes, the sense of feminine independence and the quality of women's writings. On its process, this paper makes a comparison of the subjects, ideas, languages and artistic styles of women's literature of both countries of the 1990's.Comparison of women's literature of both countries in the 1990's shows that their literature enjoyed similar prosperity, meaning that both countries have gone through the similar cultural procedures. The difference that women's literature of both countries expresses, however, has something to do with the difference in the quality of women's lives and literary traditions of both countries. While Korean women's literature focuses on the description of feminine experiences, Chinese counterpart has rather a wide view. However, their literary achievement of both countries have equally attracted public attention.
