From the viewpoint of environmental archaeology, the cultures of man from the Paleolithic Period to the Bronze Age were closely related to the changes of climate and geological background. The conclusion is as follows:As one of the important regions of agricultural origin and propagation in China, the southwest part of northeast China should be deeply studied on the relationship between environment and man from the Paleolithic Period and the Bronze Age.The quantizing research on the stages of the relationship and the evaluation of ancient environment are successfully done. The stages of the relationship between environment and man are closely related to the obviously changes of climate. The distribution of archeological cultures and their subtypes is related to the geological and geographical backgrounds, especially the climate condition. The economic formations and the models of living are closely connected with the climate condition and types and distributions of soil resources. The lower ecologic pressure stimulates the greater progress of man through the cultural adaptation. The rational selection of rocks and minerals for making tools has directly influence on the efficiency of the tools, and further on the man's adaptability to the worsened environment.According to the calculation, Paleolithic sites could be found in southern part of Jilin province.
