This paper chiefly study the development of the reclusive poetry from the pre-Qin days to the Tang Dynasty, which consists of four chapters and 24 sections, about 180, 000 words.The first chapter did some basic research work primarily. First, the author researched the source of the reclusive poetry, and defined scientifically the content and the outside of it, and differentiated the complicated relation amony the reclusive poetry , the Shan-shui Tian-yuan poetry and the You-xian poetry. Second, the author looked back the investigative history in reclusive culture, reclusive literature and reclusive poetry respectively. Finally, the author pointed out the basic way and the method that used in the paper.The second chapter discussed the formation of the reclusive thought. The author considered: Zhou-Yi opened the reclusive thought of the Confucianism and the Taoism; The Confucianism emphasized that it is merely a means to be a reclusive scholar; While the Taoism emphasized that it is a purpose to be a reclusive; Xun-zi and Han Fei-zi bouth objected to be a reclusive scholar; The standard history wrote biography for the reclusive scholars from the Han Dynasty(206B. C. -220A.D.); The reclusive poetry of the pre-Qin days and the Han Dynasty did not matured. And, the author statisticsed all the reclusive poetry at this period. Finally, the author investigated the name and classification of the reclusive scholar.The third chapter studied the diverse development of the reclusive poetry in the Wei Dynasty (220-265), Jin Dynasty (265-420) and the Northern and the Southern Dynasty (420-589).
