The human activity with imagination and creativity and with a special requirement of gift and ability each time, without exception, music is one kind of human artistic activities with very strong performance, creativity, intelligence and passion. Especially, while we are carrying out the quality education comprehensively, how to define the special connotation, how to inquire the occurrence and development, how to measure the altitude and intensity of musical ability have the value of theory and meaning of reality which are good for us to bring to musical nature and human quality, musical ability and human development in all respects, discover human potentiality, teach students in accordance with materials and their aptitude, promote human development in all respects and foster musical talented person with special ability. As a product of human conscious spirit activities, music is closely related to human physiology, psychology and behavior. From Ancient Greece in the West and Qin Dynasty in China, there have been much discussion and inquiring about music, music and person, musical person's ability. With the development of natural science, life science, philosophy and psychology, it provides a broad arena and demonstrates captivating prospects. The particularity of objects and variety of methods doom that the study of musical ability is a subject which is quite complicated and extensive. However, with psychology intervening, it takes a new look for this kind of study and becomes one of ways of most efficient and vigorous. From the late of 19C to the early of 20C, the psychology of music has gradually been an independent course in the west, but the research about the psychology of musical ability has also gradually been the branch of fairly academic standard and specific important study. However, after theⅡworld war, with schools appearing one after another in the west, and opening to foreign in the 1980s in our country, the search on the psychology of musical ability has emerged multiple subjects intersection, permeated multiple strength from the cultures of East and West and formed multiple structures of theory inquiring and positivistic study, which is the background of this paper. Based on the psychological vision, with the theory of life science and life philosophy, this paper outlines and scans, filtrates and discriminates about connotation study of musical ability, the background of the psychology of musical ability, factors of musical ability. At the same time, analyzing the interaction relation between brain, cognitive and music with contemporary neuroscience and cognitive science, it searches the occurrence and development of child's primary musical ability, test and assessment of ability with viewpoints and methods of cognitive psychology, experimental psychology and psychometrics. The author studied musical ability in view of psychology and suggested that it is the most important to evaluate personal ability accurately and to find a statistical method which can compare groups and results from different test. Ability aptitude measure is for the potentialities of individual study while achievement measure is for the gain of individual study……For psychologists who study musical ability, test is not the only way to get data and case study is also alternative. The person with high achievements must be with high ability aptitude, but the person with high ability aptitude may not get high achievements. There are many backgrounds in producing the psychology of musical ability, mainly including two backgrounds: psychology and science. Furthermore, the nature of human is complicated and formation of musicalability is the result of many factors. Simultaneously, the author analyzes the main factors of forming musical ability: firstly, the viewpoints of genetics: Musical ability mainly inherited from father not mother. A test of 74 "high ability musician"found that their ability inherited from parents is about 22? , from father is about 25? , from mother is only 12? . This author views that the probability of child learning music and becoming "high ability musician"depends on his father whether possess music quality, not his mother. There is a close relation between different music attainments and quality of music surrounding for child, but it is not clear how it depend on the environmental factors. Secondly, the theory of family and social environment , the behavior training: many proofs have demonstrated that enough special training could enhance special techniques. But the extent to which the enhancement has an effect on the development of musical ability, pitifully, can not been determined. At last, the author makes an appraisal to the paradox between the traditional teaching and the quality education, etc.
