Teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs aims at cultivating the ability of students of Uygurs students to communicate in Chinese. Studying Chinese is of great significance to development and prosperity of Uygurs, enhancing of exchanges and unity of nationalities and maintenance of social stability. Therefore, teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygur is an important part of education of the Autonomous Region, and enhancing of teaching of Chinese as a second language for students of Uygurs students is a strategic measure for the improvement of educational quality of Uygurs.Making a comprehensive view of studies on teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs for the past decades of years, this author found synchronic studies are quite fruitful, while that on historic evolution of teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs, namely, longitudinal study, is a blank. It can be said that so far no achievement of relatively systematic and comprehensive study on history of teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs has been found at home or abroad. Therefore, this paper studied on formation and development of teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs with diachronic research method and with chronology as clue. Studies on status quo of teaching of Chinese as a second language for Uygurs found most of Chinese teaching and research workers only tended to focus on language theory and teaching content and methods, but neglected language study rules of students as learning agent, which influenced correct handling of teaching and studying, and furthermore, lack of sufficient knowledge of demand or characteristics of learning agent resulted in insufficiency of pertinence of"teaching"and failure of realization of expected purpose of...
