Study On Lianmian-words Family

Lianmian-words (聯綿詞) is a special two-syllable Cluster semantic structure in ancient Chinese, which have characteristics of the historical heritage. Due to the significance of expressing meaning by sound, Lianmian-words will give birth to a group of words with common features in sound and meaning. However, the individual Lianmian-words spread in the literature,it is difficult to inspect one's meaning according to the word body. With the development and evolution of language, the affiliation is more and more lower between the cognate Lianmian-words on the other in the sound and meaning. Some etymologic significance even has been blurred in practice. It belong to Chinese etymologist study about the Lianmian-words Family, the aim is linking out the Lianmian-words Family. Based on this thought, its important that inquire into the etymology significance of the Lianmian-words. The paper is consisted of three parts.The first is the introductory part, which is divided into four parts. The Lianmian-words phenomenon is a complicated question in academe, which is interesting and vexed forever. Therefor, at first, we sorted out the predecessor and moderns' views to the characteristics, the concept on Lianmian-words. Thereby, to determine the character of Lianmian-words is simple two-syllable words with semplice meanings. Second, we sorted out the history and current situation about Lianmian-words Family. On the current situation, most of the research about Lianmian-words Family is still sporadic. Generally, the achievement is collection, complement and etymologic investigation about the common Lianmian -words Family, but it is a lack of the study for a wider range. We decided to study the objective, which is to explain and seeing about Lianmian-words families in Chinese. Third, introduction the material of this thesis. There are three sources, classical literature, physical document and dialect material. Finally, introduction the ideas, methods and significance on the study of Lianmian-words Family.the following is specific examination about the Lianmian-words Family, which is the key part of the full article. At first, we define the correlative concept of Word Family and explain the elaborate style. Whether the Lianmian-words are cognate or not, they depended on the sound and meanings. Sound is based on the characters of the ancient tones. The Shengniu(声纽)of the first and second syllable between the cognate Lianmian-words respectively same or similar; The cognate Lianmian-words has the common etymology; Moreover, there must be fully literature explanation as the basis for analysis. Under this premise, there are 90 Lianmian-words Family, involving a total of Lianmian-words more than 1,500.The last is to discusse the theory about Lianmian-words Family, to sum up the phonetic features, semantic features, record form, the level of sound and meaning about the cognate Lianmian-words, the congenetic relations between the Lianmian-words and the single-syllable words and the multi-syllable words, which have the close sound and meanings, and so on..Based on these, we made it systemic and academic on the Word Families' rule. And further to prove and supplement the existing theory, to amend some of the inadequacies of the study on Lianmian-words Family.
