Textual Reaserch On The Words And Expressions Of "Juyanxinjian" (Bamboo & Wooden Slips Excavated In Juyan Area In 1970's)

Juyanxinjian is bamboo & wooden slips excavated in Juyan area in 1970s which includes about 10,000 words. Since it was excavated in scientific and systematic way, it is more valuable in than Juyanhanjian which was excavated in 1930-1931 by North-west Scientific Survey. Based on the whole investigation of Juyanxinjian, this thesis has a total research on its words and expressions, at the same time; it also has the special textual research on some unknown words and expressions.This thesis contains three chapters and appendix as follows.1, Juyanxinjian's excavation, interpretation, research status and the value of this thesis are mainly introduced. The measures practiced in this thesis are also mentioned in this chapter.2, This chapter is the main body of the thesis. It is composed of 182 single-syllable words and 215 poly-syllable words and expressions. With the thoroughly research of the examples, its meaning is concluded. If it is showed in the dictionary, the demonstration is omitted. If it is different from the dictionary or not showed in the dictionary, it is explained in detail. The differences between the words examples and the examples in other contemporary books are also compared. In this part, 35 meaning are not showed in the dictionary. 9 examples can be proved earlier usage in Juyanxinjian. 5 different meaning from the dictionary are studied.3, The third chapter is the textual research on Tuipi and Biangao. With through research of examples, the conclusions are reached: Tuipi means to judge according to the law and regulations. Biangao means to make known publicly or to announce.However, owing to my limited time and capability, there are still some words and expressions waiting for research. Therefore, the appendix is added. It contains unknown words and expressions as well as the words and expressions with single example.This thesis has 3 characteristics: First of all, new language materials are adopted. With scientific and systematic excavation, the text of Juyanxinjian is valuable. The thesis is based on the rechecking of the text and the reference of the recent 30 years research, it guarantees the thesis owns the first hand research material. Secondly, comprehensive content is possessed. With the basis of check and research on the text of Juyanxinjian, the words and expressions have been investigated and studied. The meanings are summarized from all examples showed in Juyanxinjian. Special research is conducted to unknown ones. Last, proper methods are practiced. Much attention is paid to self-prove of the material itself as well as the compare between the examples in Juyanxinjian and in the contemporary books. At the same time, the source of meaning is also traced. Furthermore, the database techniques are applied in the thesis which guarantees the validity of the statistics and searching.
