Yiwan Hanmu Jiandu is bamboo & wooden slips of Late Han Dynasty, excavated in six Han tombs at Yiwan Village, Donghai, Lianyungang in March of 1993. Among them are 23 wooden slips, 133 bamboo slips in M6 and 1 wooden slip in M2. The content is very rich, including politics, economics, military affairs, social life and etc. Their academic value is significant and well worth studying.The academic circles paid attention to these materials and research result springs up unceasingly since the bamboo & wooden slips were unearthed. We choose the words and expressions in Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu as object of study in this thesis, and explain their meanings.This thesis contains three chapters and an appendix as follows.Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu's excavation, interpretation, research status and the value of this thesis are mainly introduced in the first part. The measures practiced in this thesis are also mentioned in this chapter.This second chapter is the main body of the thesis. It is composed of guide notes and main body of the dictionary. On the base of the published annotations and research results, we check and proofread the annotations carefully against the original pictures of the bamboo slips in order to assure the reliability of study material. Then we sort out these annotations and make an index by Guan Shen data base, inquire into the context and meaning of every character, consult the dictionary and ancient documents, and explain the whole expressions in Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu. Text length limited , we choose A-J as the thesis. There are 406 single-syllable words and 170 poly-syllable words and expressions.The third chapter includes the centralized annotations on "Gongchi", the textual research on kinds of "ku" and "che" , and a collection of names of places found in Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu.The appendix contains 4 parts, the index of places' name, the index of people's name, the table of homophones, and the index of word.The thesis has 3 characteristics: Firstly, the study materials are valuable. The thesis is based on the rechecking of the text and the reference of the recent 20 years research, it guarantees the thesis owns the first hand research material. Secondly, the study is comprehensive. With the basis of check and research on the text of Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu, we investigate almost all the words and expressions in the text for the first time. At the same time, some difficult phrases are studied and the source of their meaning is also traced. Thirdly, the proper methods are adopted. During the study, we paid much attention to the material itself as well as the comparison between the examples in Yinwan Hanmu Jiandu and in the contemporary ancient books.Furthermore, the database techniques are applied in the thesis which provides much convenience to research and guarantees the validity of the statistics and searching.
