Collation And Research Of Han Wooden Slips Excavated From The Jianshuisai

The doctoral thesis is based on the site of a Han Dynasty garrison at Jianshuisai(???)and its excavated Han wooden slips.The methodology of the study of wooden slips,Paleography,Archaeology and Historical research is used.Sorting through the archaeological information associated with the excavation of the wooden slips.The classification of texts,interpretation of texts,and linking of decorations of the wooden slips unearthed at the sites of A35 Dawan(??),A33Diwan(??),and A32 Jinguan(??)in the Jianshuisai area are sorted out.On this basis,a comprehensive study has been conducted on the organization,transport,livelihood and administrative operation of the Jianshuihouguan(????).The thesis consists of four parts: Introduction,Main Body,Conclusion,and References.Of these,this thesis is divided into seven chapters.The first chapter provides an overview of the archaeological excavations at the Dawan,Diwan and Jinguan sites in Jianshuisai,as well as a staging of the Han wooden slips excavated at the Jianshuisai.The second chapter classifies the Han wooden slips excavated from the Jianshuisai,covering the seven main categories of Books and Xi(?),Account,Laws and Regulations,Excerpt Ci(?)and Examination record,Fu(?)and Quan(?),Seal and Sign Slips,Classical books.Chapter three presents a reinterpretation of some of the texts of the Han wooden slips excavated at Jianshuisai,as well as a collation of three groups of residual wooden slips.At the same time,the seven books and documents excavated at the Diwan and Jinguan sites are presented with suggestions for their restoration and sequencing.Chapter four discusses the organization of the Jianshuihouguan.The setting up,rise,and the abolition of the Jianshuihouguan,their functions,and the setting up of Busui(??)are reviewed,then it accordingly analyses the function and characters of the pavilion in the border wall.The fifth chapter reviews the post and transport of the Jianshuihouguan,and restores the post deliver routes around Jianshui(??)and Tuota(??)in Han Dynasty.An analysis of the setting of the courier station and postal services in the fortifications was given.It also reviews and provides evidence on the"Zhiji(??)"which has been much discussed in academic circles.Chapter six discusses the medical care and grain storage of the Jianshuihouguan.Discusses the health care system and the state of health care in organizations of Houguan.The storage system in the border garrison was re-examined by sorting out the storage set-up and the sources of grain for the Jianshuihouguan.Chapter seven examines the administrative operation of the Jianshuihouguan and identifies the four main aspects of the Jianshuihouguan's operational mechanism,namely,clerical administration,Xingsai(??),Yiguan(??),and oral communication.From the content that the A32 and A33wooden slips indicate an integrated operation and that the A32 wooden slips point out that the officials of each institution also performed the duties of the Jianshuihou(???),the theory of'the movement of the station of Jianshuihou'proposed by scholars has been reviewed.Meanwhile,it also discusses the prevention and handling of the escape of soldiers from the garrison and other issues.
