In recent centries,the fast industrialization progress of Shanghai flourished the transactions of painting and calligraphy works in Shanghai.And the media of the transactions is remuneration.The research about the remuneration for Shanghai artists of painting and calligraphy in the Republic of China and Qing Dynasty , not only let us know the progress degree of Shanghai's commercialization process ,but also the artists's livelihood as well.There are three steps of the artists's livelihood: First--The common average living quality.living standard,and living relationship;Second--The creation situation of the artists and the relationship which was based on artistic works ;Third--The degree of the men of letters's social attendance and their social relationship.By analysing the remuneration for Shanghai artists and the transactions of painting and calligraphy works in Shanghai through the media of the remuneration,this essay tries to illustrate the living quality & living standard,creating situation & social relationship,social positions & social responsibilities and etc.The essay includes eight parts:The first part--The Introduction Section talks about the industrialization process of Shanghai,the commercial tradition of Jiangsu and Zhejiang Provinces in Ming & Qing Dynasties,the introduction about the artists in the industrialization process of Shanghai.In this section,the aim is to point out the artists were not anymore the traditional ones,they were more likely acting as artistic commercial products producers.Meanwhile,in this section,it also introduces the present situation,the aims,the meanings ,the views and the ways about the research of the topic.The second part--The First Section studies about the remuneration in the views of history and economy.In historic view,the essay introduces the history of the development process of the concept of Remuneration,discusses about it's evolution .analyses the historic base of the existing of the remuneration for Shanghai artists of painting and calligraphy in the Republic of China and Qing Dynasty. In economic view .mainly analyses the meaning of remuneration,including the relationship between remuneration and value, remuneration and price.and the elasticity of remuneration and etc.The third part--The Second Section studies about the drafting,publication,and realization of remuneration. The distinguishing features of the painting and calligraphy works's market at that time was that the artists could use various medias to issue their remuneration .advertise and sell their artistic products successfully.And the varieties about the drafting,types,realizations of remuneration reflected the maturity of the market.The forth part--The Third Section tries to analyse the artists and their buyers's different occupations and different social positions, tries to help people to understand the life of the artists,talks about the influences about the creation of the artists from the artistic supporters in the views of sociology.At the same time.the supporters were the most important associating friends and thus becoming an important part of the artists's life also. The fifth part--The Forth Section.in the views of statistics and mathematics,analyses the different social stratums and different living standards of the artists.In this section,by comparing the incomes of the artists to the others's.especially the other men of letters,the essay draws the conculsion that the incomes of the artists were higher than the average incomes of the citizens of the city at that time.then the standard of their living were higher than the common citizen and nearly equal to the other men of letters.In this section ,the essay also analyses the other causes which influenced the artists's life.The sixth part--The Fifth Section studies the social parts and social responsibilities of the artists during the process of issuing of remuneration.During the process of issuing the remuneration and artistic works transactions.the artists played important social roles,took social responsibilities consciously,in order to gain social admitting.The essay mainly analyses the phenomenons about that the artists played the modern commercial advertising leading roles ,while combining their social responsibilities and collecting relief funds for the society by their bazaars,in order to outline the artists's special living ways in a commercial society.The seventh part--The Sixth Section ,in two different points by comparison about the Beijing Art Society and Shanghai Art Society:one is the different degree of industrialization in these two places.the other is the different living standards which were influenced by the degree.The Shanghai Art Society had the characteristics of modern artistic market controlling,and Beijing Art Society had the characteristics of traditional exchanging ways.The Beijing artists contacted more with officals, and Shanghai artists contacted more with businessmen.The eighth part-- To discuss about the styles and mass medias of the remuneration of Chinese paintings and calligraphy works.in order to expose the livelihood about the artists through the remuneration and the acceleration of the remuneration in the process of commercialization of Chinese paintings and calligraphy works,the problems existing in the process and the inspiration of the renumeration about the present market of Chinese paintings and calligraphy works.
