The paper discusses and analyses the whole situation and evolvement trend of the cultural diffusing movement to China by the Protestants in the early age, through the articles about the movements of education, knowledge diffusion and medical missionary activities in the Chinese Repository and other materials, so as to clarify the function of promoting the missionary movement by eliminating the prejudice of Chinese towards the Western nations and apathy to Christianity through education, knowledge diffusion and medical missionary activities, and the promoting role in the Eastward Movement of Western Civilization.The paper makes a further expatiation on the points made by other scholars through deep excavating of historical materials.Chapter One probes into the historical background of China and the obstacles of the missionary activities by the Protestants to China. Chapter Two discourses upon the process of education to the Chinese by the Protestants and the evolvement of their educational ideas.Chapter Three deals with the Western civilization diffusion to China and the evolvement of their diffusion goals. Chapter Four explains the tenet and proceedings of the Medical Missionary Society in China. and the conclusion summarises the movements of education, knowledge diffusion and medical missionary activities by the Protestants in early 19th century.
