Oriental Painting Arts is a rich and huge cultural system. Especially from 19th century to 20th century, the painting arts underwent an all-inclusive development. The author tries to discuss issues such as the birth of composition principle of both Chinese and Japanese paintings, development of composition concept, consummation of composition theory and features of composition practice etc. from the composition principle of Chinese and Japanese landscape paintings. In the first chapter, the author once summarizes the natural culture background of China and Japan, and then the composition rules of western countries, and details on comparison of single element of Chinese and Japanese landscape paintings. The author further compares several representative painters of the two countries and their works. It elaborates Chinese and Japanese landscape paintings with a macroscopical overall culture concept and tries to detail the similarity and difference in the method, skill, content and aesthetics concept and creation method of landscape painting of the two countries, thus come to the conclusion of understanding Japanese paintings from China and vice versa. It is of great referential significance for the development of the landscape painting of China which is at the times of opening up and development.
