The article describes in detail about the semantics of the directional verbs: "chu" group , "qi" group, and "dad" group in various historical periods, and about the sentence usages, as well as its predicate type, object types. The article also combs the diachronic evolutionary progress of those directional verbs. The article discovers the grammaticalization progress, mechanism, the difference and cause of grammaticalization level and direction of those directional verbs by way of three-level grammar, cognitive theory, grammaticalization theory combined with its dialect display. The article also discusses the relation between syntactical structure and semantic evolution during diachronic progress, and probes into the connection between directional verbs' usage and dialect grammar. The article has 4 chapters.Preface. It introduces the nature, scope and categories of directional verb, reviews the research situation, put forward about the judge standards of directional complement and the categories of directional complement, and give a brief introduction of the main research questions, its' significance, and research methods.Chapter 1 discusses the diachronic evolution of "chu", "chuqu"and"chulai" It describes and analyses its' diachronic evolutionary progress and makes comparison on "chu" group from various angles at the same and different syntactical position. After large analysis on linguistic materials, it discovers that the semantic evolution of "chu" has direct relation with the type of the subject and object of "chu". This chapter also has discussed the grammaticalization problem of "chu" group, and points out that the asymmetric phenomena of "chu, chulai, and chuqu" are existing in various periods, and analyses it by cognitive grammar.Chapter 2 discusses the diachronic evolution of "qi, qilai, qiqu" . It describes in detail and analyses it's diachronic evolutionary progress. It also makes comparisons from various angels on those verbs at same position and different position, and analyses the grammaticalization of "qi" group and asymmetric phenomena.Chapter 3 discusses the diachronic evolution of "wang, zhi, dao". It describes in detail about the diachronic evolutionary progress, and analyses the syntax and semantic condition of it's grammaticalization. At the same time, I have put those verbs together in the same semantic field, and after comparison between its' grammaticalization direction and level, find out that the influences on grammaticalization direction and level are not only from syntax , but also from the mutual restriction and mutual influence of language system.chapter 4 is a brief conclusion based on the previous chapters and sections.
