Hsieh Chao-chih (1567-1624)was an important writer in Fujian in later Ming dynasty as well as a fairly typical scholar that time. His works spread widely not only in China, but also abroad, especially in East Japan where his works be published many times and widely spread. Before writing, author did the comprehensive study about Hsieh Chao-chih from all the aspects on the basis of predecessors' research. In this paper, author discussed Hsieh Chao-chih's literary creation, literary theories and effects, and tried to explore the process and reasons for his thoughts, personality, psychological forming.This paper contains six chapters except "introduction"Chapter One:"Situations in later Ming dynasty and Fujian literature. " In the first half of this chapter, author introduced the special historical and cultural conditions in later Ming dynasty; and the second half of this chapter, the general situation about Fujian literature and Hsieh Chao-chih's consciousness of revitalizing Min school then.Chapter Two:"Life and the thought process of Hsieh Chao-chih." Firstly author introduces Xie family's origin; then author states Hsieh Chao-chih's life experience; finally, author introduced the relation between the formation of Hsieh Chao-chih's thought and personality and the social trends.Chapter Three:"Hsieh Chao-chih's way to make friends and association." At first, author stated Hsieh Chao-chih's wide circle of friends with poets of Fujian School,Wuyue School, Shanzuo School, Fugu School, Xingling School, Gongan School and Jingling School; Secondly, author described the close relationship between Hsieh Chao-chih and Fujian literators by the investigation of Fujian literators'participations in association and Hsieh Chao-chih's participating association activities in later Ming.Chapter Four:"The inspection of Hsieh Chao-chih's writings ":First, author talked about Hsieh Chao-chih's creation, investigated his mass works and the print conditions, and made a brief analysis about his works; secondly, author studiedand, analyzed the mentality of people in the later Ming and the thought of Hsieh Chao-chih.Chapter Five:"Hsieh Chao-chih's poetry and novel theories". In section one author investigated, the prefaces, postscripts, and letters that Hsieh Chao-chih wrote to his friends. Then author analyzed his poetry and article theories and their influence over later generations. In section two, author analyzed the innovation and effects of Hsieh Chao-chih's novel and drama theories by researching and.Chapter Six:"Hsieh Chao-chih's poetries'and articles'spread abroad". Author mainly introduced Hsieh Chao-chih's works, such as and so on, their spread statue abroad, especially in Japan to explain Hsieh Chao-chih's influence in Japan.In this paper, author put research first, read the text carefully and consulted a lot of relevant literature, then writed exhaustive< a chronicle of Hsieh Chao-chih's life>,which is at the end of the text, as the appendix of this paper and to provide reference for readers.
