As a necessity production, the Frontier-style Poetry in Tang Dynasty reflects the contemporary peoples'environmental perception and cultural expression in the frontier area. By an entry point with the poetic imagery and geographic landscape, it not only expressed the Frontier area's geographic environmental vividly, but also depicted the poets'subjective awareness and moral action deeply. It's a beneficial carrier to research the contemporary peoples' environmental perception and cultural expression in the frontier area and to reveal the geographic significance of the Frontier-style Poetry.There are three tasks and methods in the research of the Frontier-style Poetry in Tang Dynasty. Firstly, to recover the Frontier environmental according to the historical documents in Tang Dynasty and set up an objective measure to analyze the Frontier environmental perception and cultural geographic of the poets in the Central Plains in Tang Dynasty. Secondly, to judge the typical imageries'objective or subjective and analyze their reasons. Thirdly, to reveal the Frontier-style poems' place significance according to analyzing the typical imageries' localism and cultural. The firstly is the base of this paper which used the traditional methods mainly. The lately are the nature task of this paper. It achieved by the analysis in the typical place imagery and divided into macroscopic and microcosmic.The purpose is to grasp the Frontier perception overall to explore the contemporary peoples'environmental perception and cultural expression in the Frontier area in macroscopic. Such as the "Sai", "Jue-yu and "Qi" metaphor the sense of belonging to the Central Plains and the sense of fear to the Frontier Area. The purpose is to analyze the place significance of the typical imageries and the Frontier-style poems in microcosmic which achieved by analysis to the typical imagery such as "He-Yuan", the "Yan-zhi Mountain", "Re-hai", the "Volcano", the "Long Mountain", "the Spring from the Long Mountain", the "Yang-guan Pass" and the "Yu-men-guan Pass". The specific research process concludes recovery, judgment and analysis.Conclusion:Firstly, the imagery, which has the objectivity and subjectivity, is the unity of the poets'subjectivity emotional and the objective historical landscape in the Frontier Area. The influence factors include two sides:one is the objective factor, and the other is the subjective factor. Their effects have different mechanisms to the imageries in the Frontier-style poems. The objective factors involve such as the objective geographic landscape, the mode of production, the customs, the cultural traditions and the historical age, and so on. The subjective factors involve such as the poets'geographic knowledge, the identity, the mood and the poetic style, and so on.Secondly, the regularity of the contemporary peoples'environmental perception and cultural expression in the Frontier Area aides to their expression methods and cultural trend. According to the relationship between the imageries'symbolic and geographic, it is to be divided into three sides:the first is the imageries that its symbolic exceeds above the geographic; the second is the imageries that its symbolic is equivalent to the geographic; the final is the imageries that its geographic exceeds above the symbolic.Thirdly, the Frontier Area in the Central Plains poets'minds not only fits with the objective geographic environment but also deviate with it. It inflects the Frontier-style poems'place significance to some extent which showed the poets'perception to the imageries'localism and cultural. The environmental evaluation system of the poets'is to center on the Central Plains. It inflects peoples'environmental perception and cultural deeply. It also establishes the keynote to the imageries and the Frontier-style poems:the Frontier Area is not only a geographical symbol of poor environment, different culture and highly war, but also the sense of belonging to the Central Plains and the sense of fear to the Frontier Area.
