A Study Of Rosa Luxemburg's Method Of Totality

The purpose of this dissertation is to systematically set forth Rosa Luxemburg's method of totality through making a pectination to the contents of Luxemburg's political ideas, economic theories and literary points, and so on. Moreover, through comparatively analyzing the connection between Luxemburg's method of totality and the dialectical method of Lenin and the thoughts of totality of the original Western Marxism, it is to clarify that Luxemburg had succeeded and developed Marxism and created Western Marxism which is different from the Second International'orthodox'Marxism and Leninism.It consists of the following three parts:Chapterâ… , the origin of the method of totality. This chapter briefly outlines the theoretical origin of the method of totality:it is holism. And it also indicates the historical time that brought about Luxemburg's method of totality. In the period Rosa Luxemburg had some fierce struggles with Bernstein and Kautsky for opportunistic trend which was totally amending Marxism from theory to practice.Chapterâ…¡, the Luxemburg's method of totality, it is the center of this dissertation. Basing on the concrete theories of Luxemburg, this chapter detailed analyzes the five features of Luxemburg's method of totality, namely:holism, historicism, practicalness, subjectivity and criticalness. These five characteristics are interdependence, they construct the basic content of Luxemburg's method of totality. Rosa Luxemburg thought that holism is meant that we should overall grasping but not isolated, one-sided investigating things. The whole has got top priority over the part. Historicism emphasizes that we should dynamically understand everything that they must be in the specific time and space. That reflected the totality of process. Practicalness means to highlight practice because practice has more fundamental status than theory. In other words, it means'action priority'. When we recognize the fundamental status of practice, we will not ignore human values. The subjectivity is not only an essential element for practice, but also the most important force for the historical process which uniting subject and object. The last feature criticalness, it is the basic guarantee to coruscate the creative of people and achieve the theoretical innovation. It is also the important premise to break away from system for Luxemburg's method of totality.Chapterâ…¢, the Luxemburg's method of totality and the original Western Marxism. The chapter reveals Luxemburg's method of totality is the important theoretical source of the totality tradition in the Western Marxism, and views that Rosa Luxemburg had opened a new interpretation way for Marxism through comparatively analyzing the difference about totality between Rosa Luxemburg and Gyorgy Lukacs, Karl Korsch and Antonio Gramsci.
