Nowadays the agriculture undertake fresh responsibility to support the economic stability especially when China became the member of the WTO recently. And the key problems, including the reorganization of the agricultural structure and the application of the special agricultural information technology to advance the agricultural production energetically, should be accounted for exigently. In light of the nation ninth five-year plan and the prospective target by 2010, a new economic zone where comprises the southeast Fujian and Zhujiang delta would be established. The oversea-oriented industry with high technology density can be developed priority in this area. Form this principal strategy, the research about the characteristic agriculture evaluation and information technology demonstration had been selected as min topic in this paper.In the part of the exordium, according to the current agricultural development trend and the course of the agri-modernization, the author analyses the feasibility and essentiality of the agricultural information technology application in the extractive industry and the correlation among of the new farming model such as eco-agriculture (EA), sustainable agriculture (SA) and characteristic agriculture (CA). The main conclusion is that the CA should be a feasible choice to accord with the target of the Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development (SARD) and must be popularize in our country.In the chapter I , the review about the Fujian agriculture increase curse had been summarized, and the limitation factor accompany with this progress were analyzed also. In the historic development process, the structure transformation had been discussed mainly in this paper. Though the dress warmly and ear one's fill have been settled in principle around the whole province, the regional structure, industry structure and product structure are quite similar so that the disadvantage about the structural overplus appeared. In order to solve these problems, two countermeasures have been put forwards listed following: (I) speeding up the CA building process to be seasoned with the modern agriculture and promoting the progress of the agricultural industrialization, marketing and commercialization system; (2) generalizing the application of the agricultural information technology to rebuild the agricultural structure and upgrade the conventional agricultural industry, so that the compositive function of the wholeagricultural system and the content of the science and technology in the agriculture manufacture could be enhanced.The main content in chapter II concerned about the agricultural information technology and its application. The paper enumerated the actual state of the information technology application affairs around the world and believed that the complex system which integrated with expert system (ES), decision support system (DSS), management information system (MIS) etc., is the leading direction of the agriculture IT in the coming future. Because of the initiative phase in our country, so the applied agricultural IT systems with typical and exemplificative significance should be built up, something like that the agricultural decision support system (ADSS). When we concerned about our planned economy frame during a long period and found out that the government played a important role in the national economic increase, the author proposes to establish a government-domination strategy to popularize the agricultural IT. Else this paper suggests that the geographical information system (CIS) should be combined with agricultural IT and shows the advantages of combination with GIS.The key problem in this part is to build up a agricultural decision support system which aimed at the construction of CA. At first, the author described the present situation of the agricultural IT in Fujian and got the conclusion that the software exploitation still in a poor level.
