Foreign Trade And Regional Competitiveness Theoretical Analysis And Empirical Research

On the basis of the relevant theories and methods concerning Economic Geography, Regional Economics, International Economics, starting from regional economic system, the author went into the research about the connotation and characters of regional competitiveness and how to upgrade it. Then probed into the internal relation and the relative law of foreign trade and regional competitiveness, and discussed how to exalt regional competitiveness by foreign trade; applied the conclusion to the analysis of Northeast Area. The paper was guided by the systematic thoughts and the analysis of factors, structure, mechanism and environment run though the whole, by using a method of theory analysis combining with practice research, quantification analysis combining with qualitative analysis. The paper consists of the following three parts: the foreword, the text and the conclusion.In the foreword, the author briefly stated the situation of the study on foreign trade and regional competitiveness both at home and abroad, pointed out the theoretical and practical significance of the research, and indicated the key points, basic frames, contents and the structure of the paper in accordance with the characteristics of the subject.There are four chapters in the text. The first chapter is the basic part of the paper which summarized the existing concepts of regional competitiveness, and put forward to a new one characterized by systems combined of factors, structures and mechanism, then probed into the source of regional competitiveness and evaluation measurements, which enable to review regional competitiveness from a wholly new point.The second chapter is the hard core of the paper. In this chapter, on the basis of regional competitiveness, put forward to an analysis frame "foreign trade: one of impetus of regional competitiveness", try to explore the law of foreign trade and regional development. The result is that to achieve the goal of exalting regional competitiveness by enhancing factors, optimizing structure, improving mechanism, harmonizing environment and choosing suitable development strategy. The influencing measurement of foreign trade to regional competitiveness is achieved by analyzing percents of net export, dependence rates of foreign trade, correlation of foreign trade and economic growth.In the third chapter, the author reviewed the influence of foreign trade to regional competitiveness home and abroad. Firstly analyzed the influence of all kinds of countries' foreign trade to regional competitiveness, indicated different influence at different scale, then analyzed the influence of Changjiang Delta's foreign trade to regional competitiveness and stated the great impact of foreign trade on the regional development at present stage.The fourth chapter contained the practical analysis of the influence of Northeast Area's foreign trade to regional competitiveness. Exerting the analysis frame "foreign trade: one of impetus of regional competitiveness", the author firstly judged Northeast Area's regional competitiveness, analyzed the influence of foreign trade and foreign direct investment to regional competitiveness by economic scale, industry structure, space structure and environment, by one variable model and Balassa Model, then indicated the influencing factors, put forward countermeasures of exalting regional competitiveness to development foreign trade and foreign direct investment.In the conclusion part, the author set forth basic and innovative conclusions according to the above analysis, indicated the possible contribution and shortcoming.
