The Regional Resources Exploitation And Economic Development Research Of The Sandu Bay Coastal Zone

Located in the north of the Economic Zone west coast of the Taiwan Straits, the Sandu Bay is one of the important natural good deepwater harbors in China. A great Dumber of scholars have made the study on the topics as to how to exploit the Sandu Bay and shake off the economic backwardness of the region for years. But so far, the systematic study on the resources exploitation and economic development of the Sandu Bay coastal zone hasn't been made yet. However, such significant events as the whole expressway line from Wenzhou to Fuzhou has been opened to traffic, the railway between them is about to be constructed., and the expressway from Ningde to Jindezhen is advanced to be planned bring the Sandu Bay the opportunity for its strategic development. In order to promote Ningde to take the lead in realizing the modernization and build the well-to-do society in all-round way in the first 20 years of the 21^st century, this thesis focuses its study on the Sandu Bay coastal zone. In it, the regional economy theory, ecology theory and strategic principles of the sustainable development are applied to analyze its resources as harbour, land, freshwater, biology, agriculture and climate, tourism, and its current situation of the social and economic development. Based on my years' working experiences in Ningde and exploration of the concerning theories, I hold that the deepwater harbour is the strategic resource for the development of China. Thus, as the most significant potential advantage of Ningde City, the Sandu Bay should turn its potential strengths of resources into the economic strengths in reality as soon as possible. 1 consider we may construct a large regional even the key harbour for transshipment, lay out the coastal industry base, develop the ecological tourism industry and ecological agriculture to build up the central city in the north of the Economic Zone v/est coast of the Taiwan Straits and establish the convenient traffic system in the Sandu Bay coastal zone. In addition, this thesis also explores some theories of resources exploitation and the sustainable development of the economy in the less-developed coastal areas and offers the specific solutions and measures in practice, which provide scientific basis for the sustainable development in the Sandu Bay coastal zone.
