As is well known, ideological and political education is the activities of social practice in which the society or the class uses the value regulations to exert influence on the members of society, and it has a strong practicality and feasibility. Starting from the people, looking for the rules and methods of the development of ideological and political education is both the logical departing point for the research of ideological and political education, and the fundamental approach to the exertion of its effectiveness. Under the conditions of the socialist marketing economy, the non-rational factors of the members of society have been stimulated and strengthened, showing the characteristics of a new era, which requires us to face up to and grasp the characteristics of the individual non-rational factors, to give full play to the guiding function of the value of ideological and political education, to educate and train the individuals with the powerful forces of ideological and political education into high-quality talents that society needs.Based on Marxist theory, combined with the reality of the actual ideological and political education, as well as academic research results of non-rational problems, this dissertation integrates non-rational factors with ideological and political education. Through reflection on the limitations of the traditional pattern of rational political education, from the reality of non-rational factors of human being, the author proposes the new form of the non-rational ideological and political education, aiming at looking for a new path of the effectiveness of ideological and political education from individual irrational factors. The main contents and opinions of the dissertation are given as follows.First, it analyzes the concepts, characteristics and functions of non-rational factors in ideological and political education. Society is the human society, and people are the people of the society. Human harmony is, in a sense, the harmony between rationality and non-rationality. Considering the fact that traditional ideological and political education ignores the non-rational factors of human being and thus leads to the poor effect of ideological and political education, there should be a change in the traditional process of ideological and political education which attaches too much importance to a single educational pattern of imparting knowledge, and more emphasis on the training and shaping of non-rational factors of individual, including emotion, willingness, belief and so on. Ideological and political education should under no conditions ignore the objective existence of individual irrational factors, which not only relates to the richness and soundness of individual's inner spiritual world, value judgments and behavior selection, but also the construction of social civilization. If the non-rational factors of ideological and political education have specificities, they will directly influence the practical effect of ideological and political education.Second, it puts forward the concept of non-rational ideological and political education and analyzing its foundation. Non-rational ideological and political education is one form of ideological and political education, and is closely related to rational ideological and political education. Non-rational ideological and political education is based on the rational ideological and political education and their combined action constitutes a complete process of ideological and political education. Non-rational ideological and political education is built on the practice of an individual's inner experience, stressing the independent judgments and emotional identities of the educates; it can combine the external activity of the ideological and political education and individual's internal spiritual world, so as to guide the individual's enthusiasm and initiative to accept the ideological and political education activities.Third, it analyzes the main elements of non-rational ideological and political education. Non-rational ideological and political education takes the socialist core value system as a standard to impose a systematic education on the members of the society, which are the criteria of the implementation of irrational ideological and political education. It also attaches more importance to the individuality and targeted personalization of education, including desire education, affective education, and frustration education. It helps the implementation of ideological and political education to further detail the contents of non-rational ideological and political education. Fourth, it analyzes the law of development of irrational ideology and political education. The proposal of non-rational ideological and political education is by no means deduction or conception, but the result of reflection and summarization based on the experiences and lessons of the present ideological and political activities, and at the same time it also has its own laws for exploration and research, which is based on the contradiction between individual non-rational factors and the social rationality, between the non-rational factors in themselves, and between individual non-rational factors and rational factors, which formed the controlling law of divergence and convergence, the coordinate law of respect and sublimation and the interactive law of repulsion and acceptance.Fifth, it analyzes the methodology of the non-rational ideological and political education. Ideological and political education has always been a long-standing practical activity applied by political parties and classes in human society. It has been proved in the Chinese communist's revolutionary and constructive practices that the purpose of it is not only used as a tool or a method to safeguard the political rule; more importantly, this educational activity tries to reach the all-round development of individuals of the society. With the globalization, market-orientation and networking, individuals will inevitably be affected, presenting the characteristics of a certain era in behaviors and thoughts. Ideological and political education should face the reality and formulate a corresponding way and strategy of ideological and political education through the study of the non-rational characteristics. Non-rational ideological and political education is implemented through the systematic cultivation of the community, the process of which is relatively slow. Only when understand clearly the characteristics of non-rational factors and identify the characteristics of changes in them can we find the proper solution. The unity principle of individuality and generality, the penetration principle of rationality and non-rationality, the combination principle of reality and transcendence are the methodological principles of the implementation of non-rational ideological and political education.The theoretical significances of the dissertation lie in: first, it gives a further study of the concepts and characteristics of non-national factors in the subject of ideological and political education from the perspective of analyzing the non-rational factors in ideological and political education, which to some extent deepens the contents of the research of ideological and political education; second, by putting forward the concept of non-rational ideological and political education, it helps to broaden the disciplines of the field of development studies, and further expands the vision of research field; third, based on the categorical relationship between non-rational factors within themselves, the conflicts between non-rational factors and rationality, and the contradictories between individual non-rationality and social rationality, it analyses the three laws of non-rational ideological and political education, which enriches the theoretical study. The realistic significances of the dissertation are: first, by analyzing the characteristics of non-rational factors of individuals in the reality and the indispensable bound with the ideological and political education, it helps to develop the effectiveness of the latter, hence ensuring to a greater extent the construction of a harmonious community and the all-round development of individuals; second, by analyzing the ways of realizing non-rational ideological and political education, and finding a package of scientific measures suitable for individual's personalities in the modern society, it helps to guide the actual job of the ideological and political educators.
