Discrimination Of Structural Contradictions Between China And The United States

In the new century, structural contradictions are the core of the Sino-US conflict. Defining the meaning of structure is the premise of structural contradictions research. In the view of west scholars, the structural contradictions of Sino-US relation are contradictions of international power structure. In the view of Chinese scholars, the structural contradictions of Sino-US relation are the contradictions of Sino-US bilateral relation structure.In this thesis, the author extracts the bicycle type structure of Sino-US relation though the application of the structuralism theory. The complex connection between China and US constitute the basic framework of the"bike". The structural cooperation and the structural contradiction are the two wheels. The structural cooperation is the driving wheel, including complex interdependence, exchange of civilization, complex mechanism, safeguard world peace and stability, counter-terrorism. The structural contradiction is the driven wheel, including structural clash between rising power and hegemony power, geopolitical competition, ideological differences, civilization differences, and the Taiwan issue. Then, the author analyses developing law of Sino-US structural contradictions though the application of the deconstructionist theory. Lastly, the author discusses how to solve the Sino-US structural contradictions though the application of the constructivist theory. The Sino-US structural contradictions include structural factors and non-structural factors. The non-structural factors of are the new developing space of Sino-US relation in 21 century.The structural clash between rising power and hegemony power includes several non-structural factors, such as the peaceful nature of Chinese peaceful development, the developing environment of globalization, the cooperation era of great power and the precedent of peaceful rising. The non-structural factors of geopolitical competition include American strategy of"the balance of power", the stable wish of East-Asian countries, the non-reality of Chinese challenge and the peaceful desire of US in East-Asian. The non-structural factors of ideological differences and civilization differences include gradually fading away of ideological struggle, the exchange and integration of civilization and misperception. The non-structural factors of Taiwan issue include the peaceful wish of China and US, the mutual exchange of Taiwan and the mainland, the constraint of U.S. arms sales to Taiwan.According to the factors of Sino-US relation, the thesis discribs three scenarios of Sino-US relations in the future: a comprehensive conflict, chaos and strategic mutual trust. It should hedge the comprehensive conflict, improve the cooperation, and consolidate the results of the mechanism.
