Coaches are special talents who can promote the development of sports and athletic sports, an excellent coaches can train a number of elite athletes, and some qualified coaches would able to promote the sustainable development of a sport. it is necessary to strengthen the research on the professional quality of athletic coaches, and it has become an urgent topic need to be solved for Chinese athletics which are facing increasingly intense competition pressure. Research on the athletics coach competency model, explores the new ways and measures of chinese athletic coach human resource development and management to realize a fine talent-post matching, Hence, it's significance in theory and practice to the development of Chinese athletics has been catching up with the rest of the country.This paper takes the competence of chinese athletic coaches as research subject, explores the competence model of chinese athletic coaches and the relationship of coaches competence and performance by using the research meaning of competence. First, On the basis of literature review and Critical Incidents Technique, The paper picked the theoretical structure of competence characteristics and its dimensions of Chinese athletic coaches, In this foundation, it also established the competence measurement questionnaire. Secondly, using exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis further inspection of coaches in competency model of chinese athletic coaches. Then, this paper does textual research in order to verify the relationship of coaches completence and performance, and explores the competency differences from different positions and individual characteristics of coaches.The results of the study show that, the competency model of chinese athletic coaches consists of four dimensions and 18 competency characteres, such as teaching skill, professional knowledge, establishment and development relations, personal characteristics, the teaching skill dimension contains plan ability, the technical diagnosis, attention to detail, prevent injuries, training load monitoring ability, innovation; Professional knowledge dimension contains special experience, physical stamina training knowledge, select material knowledge, continuous learning ability; Establishing and developing relationships dimension contains communication, empathy, incentive, influence; Personal characteristics dimension contains achievement motive and competitive, self control, initiative etc. Exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis results and the scale of the basic theory of that idea anastomosis, track and field coaches competency model of reliability and stability, this model properly generalizes the track and field coaches of competence. Athletic coaches of competence and job performance of empirical test validity also reached the standard. That track and field coaches competency and performance have positive correlation, this paper constructed the competency model can of track and field of coaches who boldness and ordinary performance to distinguish, can be popularized. Athletic coaches competency in different positions and individual characteristics were no significant difference, but the differences in individual dimension. Competency model of track and field coaches of human resource management, professional qualification standards and competency level development provides empirical basis, it has important application value.
