The construction of talent team is an important development factor of modern university, and building a world-class talent team and some world-class disciplines is the key way of building a world-class university. The modern university has the missions of talent cultivation, science research, social service and culture guiding that its development combined with the development of country. The academic talents are one part of the talents that country needs, which also are the main constructors of building a great talent resource country. Cultivating independently and international talents importing are the two main ways for university getting talents, but in the circumstance of talent globalization, international talents importing becomes an effectively way for university getting world-class academic talents. Some problems such as leading the talents international flow tendency, dealing with the relationships of knowledge development and academic talents flow and building circumstance for attracting international talents should be resolved firstly in the practice of academic talents importing, which on the basis of knowing the law of academic international flow distinctly and roundly.The research of international mobility of West Country's university staff focuses on the law of academic talents'international mobility from historical dimensionality. The academic research is rooted form the practice problem, which shows in the research design of the international mobility of West Country's university staff. The key problems of this thesis are:(1) What are the group characteristics of whom taking part in the international flow, and "Why" and "How"?(2) What are the factors that influencing the international flow of West Country's university staff and how these factors work?(3) What are the characteristics of West Country's university staff's international mobility at every era, including its scale and approach?(4) What is the historical law of the international mobility of West Country's university staff, and the inspirations of which for guiding the tendency of international flow of university staff? It has important academic value and practice meanings for answering such questions.The thesis tries to use the methods of historical study, comparative study, case study, biographical and group biographical study, and statistical study to carry the research of the international mobility law of West Country's university staff from two aspects of qualitative research and quantitative research corporately. The thesis consists three parts. The first part is the introduction part. The second is the main body of papers, from cheaper I to chapter V, that research on the historical backgrounds, influencing factors, scales and characteristics of the international mobility of West Country's university staff in every historical age. The third part is the conclusion.The contents of part I consist of the stating of reasons of topic choosing, the recitations of research findings both at home and abroad, the definitions of key concepts and the introductions of research design. The construction and using rules of the academic scientists database is introduced emphasized.The contents of part â…¡ consist of five chapters that research on the international mobility of West Country's university staff independently. The contents of Chapter I are the discussions of the early pattern of the international flow of medieval university staff, the analysis of the circumstances of international mobility of West Country's university staff in the middle ages, and the summary of the original law of the international mobility of medieval university staff as "attracting of knowledge and pushing of outer power". The contents of Chapter II are the discussions of international flow of West Country's university staff from16th century to18th century, and the analysis of the influencing effects on the international mobility of medieval university staff from the Renaissance, the religion reform and the first science revolution. The contents of Chapter III are the discussions of international flow of West Country's university staff in19th century, and the analysis of the relationships of modern university and international mobility of medieval university staff. The contents of Chapter IV are the discussions of the special international flow of West Country's university staff at the first half of20th century, and the analysis of the hidden factors that leading the international escaping of West Country's university staff. The contents of Chapter V are the discussions of international mobility of West Country's university staff in the twenty years after World War â…¡, and the analysis of the effect of nation power and academic market that promotes the international mobility of West Country's university staff.The contents of part III consists of the three types and their characteristics of the international mobility of West Country's university staff, the inner and outer influencing factors of the international mobility of West Country's university staff, the relationships of knowledge development and international mobility centers, and the inspirations gotten from the research of the international mobility law of West Country's university staff.
