The Development Of Contemporary Society: The Liberation Of Cultural Awareness

The dissertation is mainly concerned of studying the reconstruction of the humanism in the contemporary social development. The author wants to express the following ideas and its theoretical logic. The worldwide spirit crisis has been a universal problem to which Mankind have to face up in the contemporary social development. It is not only the true image of all the basic contradictory conflicts in the contemporary social development owing to the western development model, but also a practice problem which Mankind have to deal with in pursuing a newer and higher social development. Since the nineties in the 20th Century, the 揷risis of the humanism?emerged in China is also the sharp reflection of the reality in the social deep-level development. Meanwhile, it also shows that it is not very easy for China to realize its modernization. The humanism is the conscious belief and cultural principle, which helps human being to attain self-emancipation during the process of individual survival and development with an ideal value criterion of the true, the good and the beautiful. It focus on the understanding and assurance of human being抯 fate and targeting world; it focus on the human being抯 existence, meaning and value, in order to help them to find the solution to overcome their suffering and emancipation, it embodies the richest and deepest human essence; in addition, it is the social spirit foundation for modern people which is of importance for human being future. The problem of the humanism concerns of the economic system transformation happening in China, the cultural value choice and reconstruction of the transformation, which is a very important theoretical subject in China contemporary social development with specific realistic and far-reaching historical significance. As a historical category, the humanism embodies different connotation in different times. The crisis idea calls for the reconstruction of humanism. The theoretical circles have different ideas and opinions towards the problem on how to reconstruct the humanism. Those different suggestions are useful to strengthen the socialist civilization building. Owing to lacking of systematic research and argumentation. So far, it has not caused scholars?attention to probe into the problem. There lies many opinions, which the author is strongly against, those ideas are the following: obvious historical nihilism, cultural conservatism, liberalism, non-rationalism and some ideas with a religion color. The author thinks we cannot break away form China抯 contemporary social development reality concerning of how to reconstruct the humanism. Neither can We copy the western humanism, nor we can imitate the Confucians, not saying of the liberal diversification. We should focus on the reality of the contemporary social development with the guide of Marxism, at the standpoint of historical materialism and Practice in applying the methodology of history and value unity,, on the basis of absorbing in excellent human civilization, try to represent the modern humanism which should adapt to China practical situation with an acute sense of times in order to push forward the comprehensive advance of the society and human being.
